> For couples and solo travellers, exploring Marino Ballena National Park is a must, even though there's a small entrance fee to access the main beach area. However, you can enjoy the park's peripheral beauty without paying by walking along the public parts of Playa Uvita and Playa Hermosa, just north of the park entrance. These beaches are great for long strolls, enjoying the sunset, or simply relaxing by the ocean. Keep an eye out for the famous Whale's Tail sandbar during low tide; while the best view is from within the park, its general shape is visible from adjacent public beaches.

> Another excellent free activity is hiking to the Uvita Waterfall, also known as Cascada Verde. While some properties charge a small fee to cross their land, you can often find public access points or simply enjoy the refreshing pools at the base without needing to pay. It's a wonderful spot for a cool dip on a warm day and a great photo opportunity.
