Free your mind in the desert
Such an amazing place. Great house and amenities. Clean and organized. If you want to stay in the middle of the desert with absolutely no city noise or lights stay here. Amazing property to sit out at night and open your mind to the universe. Coming back soon!!!

Trip number 7 to Wonderhouse
Once again, for our seventh time, we found Wonderhouse to be the idea place for escaping reality! This is the ideal place for nighttime photography or deepsky astro and the main reason we come. The house is perfectly comfortable, safe and remotely located. With the Scenic highway closed right now, there was almost no traffic on Amboy Road making it exceedingly quiet! Thank you again Melissa! We love it here. And thank you Liz who takes care of the place too! Always the best.

Wonderful desert oasis
My daughter and I stayed at Wonder House while we visited Joshua Tree National Park. The location was wonderful and helped us really appreciate the big sky and mountain views -- especially from the hot tub! The hosts were helpful and communicative, and the home was filled with thoughtful touches. Truly a top-notch experience!

Relaxing Desert getaway
This was a very nice house perfectly set in the middle of nowhere. We went to take pictures of the Milkyway and were very happy with the location. It’s a great house to relax in and outside.

Beautiful Views & Relaxing Atmosphere
We were able to easily access the property, all essentials were available (kitchenware fully stocked, goodies left for the kids, even past travelers left behind firewood!) and the property was well maintained. This property had the best views that I've ever seen, and the kiddos had a blast running around in the fenced in area. One thing that I noticed, there wasn't a washer/dryer available. We were only there a few days, but if you plan on staying an extended time, just make sure to pack extra; the closest town is about 20-30min drive.

Thunder House!
Our 8th trip to Wonderhouse. That speaks volumes! This is a great place to experience the beauty of the California desert and the skies that were very alive this trip! We had monsoon weather and one great thunderstorm! We'll post a video on YouTube (wonderhouse storm) shortly. As always, Melissa is the best host and we love the style of the place and the comfort and security. I'm probably going to write a dozen more of these reviews in the future! This is our fav place in the desert. Thanks again guys for your wonderful hospitality. This was one of our best trips ever.

Peaceful and quiet
This cabin was in a very quiet and private area. We were looking to get away from it all, and this was perfect. We didn't see anyone the whole weekend. The cabin was very clean and well-stocked. We brought our two dogs, and they had a blast. The fence was very secure for them. We enjoyed the star gazing in the hot tub in the evenings. We explored Amboy Crater which was only half an hour away. This place was great and we will be booking again soon.

Peace, Love and a Wonderful time.
Wonder House is the BEST kept gem of all the vacation rental sites I've used! Hands Down!!! Stay here & watch the sunrise, the sunset, soak in the hot tub, float in the pool, build a giant fire in the fire pit, nap in a hammock, sleep on the amazin beds, find Wanda, etc....But most of all, be grateful you found Wonder House ♡ ~ Marcie from Phoenix, Arizona p.s. Desert Oasis
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Wonder Valley. The Oasis was well equipped, clean and comfortable. We particularly enjoyed our mornings taking in the view and desert scents. It is situated fairly close to the Joshua Tree National Park and we spent some time there exploring and a day over at the Mojave National Preserve ( a hidden gem!). Good communication with the host(s). We would definitely book again.

INCREDIBLE
Everything was impeccable at this stunning house. I cannot wait to return! We watched the stars drift by while lounging in the hot tub, relaxed in the hammocks, and slept like babies! The hosts have provided so many thoughtful details. The Wonderhouse is INCREDIBLE!

Number 7 and counting
This was our 7th trip to Wonderhouse. Why? Because the location is great, the solitude, the quiet, the open skies, the fresh air, but that is all just the outside! Melissa and Paul have really invested well in giving guests a very comfortable place! New floors have been added and the place is very well maintained, and it is always super clean and comfortable not matter what the weather. We came out for our 45th wedding anniversary, pretending to be "off grid" from everyone else, Shhh don't tell, but the internet and cell service is fine and everything you can need is provided. Thanks AGAIN Melissa and Paul, we'll be back again, and again. Aloha! H&S

The House not only exceeded our expectations but had so many places to chill out and stargaze, it was a bit windy towards the evening but the interior of the place was wonderful, this was our second time staying here and definitely will be back.

Wonder House is Wonderful!
We had an amazing time at Wonder House! It's so remote in the middle of nowhere with complete privacy and relaxation, yet not too far from Joshua Tree and "civilization." The house was extremely clean and the hosts' attention to detail was so impressive. Everything was comfortable and welcoming (including dog friendly). Our favorite feature was the cowboy pool which somehow stayed a perfect refreshing temperature all the time! We highly recommend this property for a perfect, relaxing desert getaway :)

Paradise in Wanderville
My family and I enjoyed a quick getaway in the middle of nowhere. It was just what we needed. Great colors and artistry adorn the clean, cool inside of this charming home. Step outside and enjoy a cool down in a cowboy bathtub and stand in the wind. The quiet and expanse soothe a busy mind, and the grand expanse in the valley with mountains all around offers a calming hug. Get too hot and enjoy the great cool indoors but don't forget to catch that sunset. There is nothing as grand as an unobstructed sunset in the desert. You can see stars, shooting stars, and a little milky way when it gets dark. It was a wonderful and fun family time for us. I hope you enjoy it too!

Immediately the Wonder Home made us feel at home - the back patio was magical, and the addition of the pool made the area an oasis - we were lucky enough to be here for a meteor shower, the night skies are incredibly bright at this peaceful, safe and remote location - open, peaceful desert views - pure WOW - inside the home, the design detailing was incredibly stylish and fabulous in every way - if there was a 10star I’d give it that rating - Mellisa was wonderfully responsive and thoughtful- you will not be disappointed- it truly is an oasis

The Desert Cleanse You Need
Looking for a home base for Joshua Tree that puts you smack in the middle of amazingly beautiful wilderness, complete with a hot tub for star gazing and all of the comforts of home? Look no further. Wonder House is truly that and we could not be happier with our experience. Dog friendly and so easy to go for miles in any direction. The hosts have fenced in an acre of the property to protect you and your dogs from rattlers and there are no cacti on site to worry about when you let the dogs explore. Heat lamp and comfortable outdoor furniture, fire pit, horse shoes, hot tub and even a stock tank pool for summer guests…putting on clothes is optional given the isolation. Beds are comfortable and the house is well stocked and clean. We will definitely be back!!!

Great place to relax and unplug
We enjoyed our two nights at Wonder House so much, and wish we would have stayed at least one more day. We loved the location. It’s pretty secluded being about a 20 minute drive from stores/restaurants, but still close enough to enjoy the local scene. We explored Joshua Tree National Park during our stay, but would have been just as happy simply relaxing at the house. The owners really put some thought into all the details and comforts they provide. Truly a little slice of desert paradise. We hope to be back! Thank you!

Perfect getaway from the city! I think the dogs may have enjoyed it even more than we did! House was clean and perfectly stocked (We brought too much stuff!). The outside sitting area probably got most of my attention - grilling, watching the dogs and just being outside with nobody around. Host was available and communicated everything we needed to know. Already looking at coming back!

Beautiful Desert Oasis
My family and I stayed for our daughter's 2nd birthday. We had a wonderful time! The home is well stocked with anything you could possibly need, including birthday candles :) The outside amenities are perfect for keeping the kids occupied and there is plenty of room to explore. Desert Getaway
Had a wonderful time at the house! Very clean, cool and stocked with goodies. After the heat the yard became the main attraction with the stars above, the time spent taking space pictures and chilling in the hammock during the night was great! Although internet wasn't the fastest and the neighbouring views were a bit sketchy can't complain at all. Take bug spray, Can't wait to come back!

Myles, we are happy to hear you enjoyed yourself and the stars. To address your concerns, Wonder House is in a remote area and we have the fastest internet available in our area. If many people are on the satellite network at once it can be a little slow at times for streaming etc. We would like to improve that, but sadly it’s out of our control until more service options come to the area. As for the neighboring properties, in the 50s homesteaders were given 5 acre parcels in the area to live on. Over time many of the homes were abandoned (sometimes leaving cars and trailers behind), but more and more are being purchased and renovated like Wonder House to become quiet and secluded vacation getaways! Seeing these old homes around is part of the charm of the area, and not unique to Wonder House or any vacation rental in the area. Hope to have you back soon!

Wonderful Desert Oasis
The house was fantastic and just as cute and funky as I expected and hoped it would be. The little touches of decor, toiletries, candy, and pet toys were so appreciated and definitely memorable. We loved the outdoor area and spent a lot of time relaxing outside. I ended up accidentally leaving something behind and Melissa stayed in touch with me and was able to retrieve it and send it back safely after the next guests came and went. We will definitely be back if we are in the area again!

Desert Delight!
Such a great spot to soak up the beauty of your surroundings! The house was super cute with everything you need (and more) for a getaway from the daily grind. It was only a short drive to the much less crowded north entrance of Joshua Tree NP and it was so relaxing to return to this perfectly appointed house each evening to rest our tired bones. Loved getting to roast marshmallows in the fire pit under an incredible night sky. Can’t wait to be back!

29 Palms Stay
Had a wonderful time at this VRBO. It was peaceful, quiet, and relaxing. Nothing better than spending the days hiking in Joshua Tree, then having dinner under the stars followed by a dip in the hot tub to sooth aching muscles.

This was our fourth visit to Wonderhouse this crazy, 2020 year. That speaks volumes! It is a great place to visit and quiet and comfortable. Last trip it was 118 during the day and this trip it got down to 34 at night. No problem inside, the place has the best heating/cooling system! Thank you once again Melissa and Paul for this offering and letting us have that "home away from home" feeling when we visit. We'll be back, many more times!

Our family of 4 adults and 3 small dogs loved this place. Everything was exactly what we were looking for: dog friendly A++, clean and CUTE, beautiful views (mountains & stars!), well stocked 5/5, firepit, hot tub, plunge pool (closed this time of year as it would be too cold), & great communication from owners. If you are looking for a place to unplug, relax, and reset for you and your furry family this is it.

Still a Wonder House
Our third visit to the Wonderhouse. It was hot in Twentynine Palms!! Most of the day was over 100 degrees outside but the inside is really comfortable and once again, a great place to run away to. The night is beautiful there and so quiet and calm. This house is safe and relaxing as can be. Melissa and Paul, thank you once again for sharing this house with others, we feel like its a second home now, and will be back many more times!!

A Return Trip
We stayed at Wonder House a few months ago and booked a 2nd trip the same day we returned. This is a great place. The house is perfectly comfortable and the area is ideal for getting away a few days. We shut the blinds making it dark during the hot 100 degree day and enjoyed movies and stayed out late under the stars at night in the peace and quiet. Melissa was incredibly kind once again with all the arrangements and we loved staying here more than any other place we have visited in the desert. This is a rare, dark sky location as well. We will be back again, and again! Thank you so much!

What an amazing trip this was for our family . The house has everything you need, like EVERYTHING .. forget toothbrush they got it.. forget condiments they got it .. razors, rice and even marshmallows if you forgot yours .. it was over my expectations I would definitely stay here again. The day we returned from our first visit, we booked another trip. That only happens with us when we go to Maui, but this Wonder House is our new favorite all time desert retreat. Paul & Melissa really went all-out making a safe, comfortable, modern, but very beach-like down-to-earth place. The artwork and style is fun and fits the place perfectly. Every detail was considered and its a perfect place for wide open unobstructed views, especially at night. We hope to come back many times. Thanks Paul & Melissa for all the hard-work you put into this house, it shows, and your generosity offering it is great!

Just Wonderful
My son and I stayed at the Wonder House for four days during Christmas. Everything at the property beat our expectations. From the darling decour to your every need being pre-thought and the house having it. It’s all very comfortable and cozy, loved the outdoor couches and hammocks , and the hot tub was one of the reasons we picked the place , very easy to use and wonderful. The hiking and surroundings are fab. We were lucky enough to wake up to snow covered mountains surrounding us . BEAUTIFUL. Also if you like to cook the kitchen actually has everything you would need :) We will plan another relaxing trip out there, thanks for the hospitality.

Awesome!
I've stayed at many spots in Wonder Valley and this was one of the best. Peaceful, incredible night skies, great hot tub, great amenities, comfy beds, well maintained house. Overall perfect.
