"Lovely, clean property in a great location. Everything as expected and house nice and warm. Only note, instructions say the key is at the back of the house where the parking is but the parking and the key holder is clearly at the front of the house - not sure how a simple instruction like this can be wrongly noted. "We stayed here for a short break with the family. We were greeted with a lovely welcome pack from the owners and was really impressed with the lodge. Its location was perfect for places to visit, we went to Bamburgh castle, Berwick, Alnwick gardens and Holy Island in the time we stayed. The accommodation was spacious, clean and warm on arrival, with the log burner as a welcome extra. We would definitely recommend for a family getaway and would stay again in the future."

"A beautiful property that was perfect for our needs. There were five adults and four children in our group and it catered, and was accessible, for all. Supermarkets are close, the views are fantastic, and the house itself was clean and tidy. We had to switch the timer off on the heating as it was very cold with it on but the house warmed up very quickly and it was really warm after a while. We would absolutely stay again and recommend it to anyone."

"Perfect location and great property giving easy access to the town and beaches. The views from the lounge are lovely. Our party consisted of 3 adults, 2 children and 2 labradors and the property served us well! Plenty of room. "We recently stayed at May Cottage and it was just what we needed. The cottage is lovely and much bigger than we anticipated, especially the bedrooms - they’re a really big! Kitchen has everything you need and even though we had taken hand wash and washing up liquid etc, it was all provided. Even dishwasher tablets! The views from the garden are exceptional and it was very quiet. We loved sitting watching the families of swallows flying in and out of their nests and listening their babies...

"The house was mostly comfortable but needs some upkeep. The communication with the host was a challenge and they did not reply to most messages (even an acknowledgment of receipt would be okay). One of the showers we could not adjust the temperature, 2 of the showers had mold. One of the biggest challenges was trying to cook as the cookware is very worn and some of it unusable. It would be nice to have a few basic essentials such as salt and pepper and hand soap upon arrival to get things...

"We have just returned from a week-long stay in this lovely location. It is situated just around the corner from the harbour and had everything we needed for a relaxing and peaceful getaway. My only criticism would be that it advertised a DVD player (and I had brought along several DVDs which we were looking forward to watching) and, although there was indeed a player, it had the wrong connection for the TV and we were therefore unable to use it. Otherwise a wonderful stay. Thank You."

"Lovely spacious well-heated house in beautiful countryside. We had a week of snowy weather which was heavenly. Edward, the owner was extremely helpful. He towed out some cars which got stuck in the car park by the house, provided lots of logs, replaced the washing machine which had problems and was generally a great help. This is a house for people who like old books and furnishings...don't go there if you want modern posh."
