The water tower was built in 1960 and then converted to a Micro house in 2017\. The view from the tower is unique with lava fields, craters, mountains and the coastline. The top floor kitchen/dining/living space is relaxing and very comfortable. The kitchen is nicely equipped for those who like to cook. The beds were comfortable. The owners are lovely people who are responsive to questions/concerns. There is a walking road close to the ocean where several shipwrecks can be seen. It is in a very convenient location for the Blue Lagoon and the airport. We also spent a day driving to the basalt columns and the Solheimajokull glacier. We woke to the ocean every morning and even on the one stormy day that we had, we were mesmerized by the view! We loved being in this quaint fishing village, away from the hustle of the city. It was close to so much and we really enjoyed coming home here after each day’s excursions. We cannot recommend the ATV tour enough - literally located across the street from the property! This home is so lovely. Truly recommend it to anyone traveling to Iceland. Grindavik is very close to the airport, a great place to see volcanos, and the Blue Lagoon is minutes away. We stayed two nights and had a really wonderful time. This books through VRBO. I recommend trying to book directly on the Tower’s website though. We didn’t get the VRBO communications but the owner was very communicative on WhatsApp during our trip. Bonus is this house has a washing machine (no dryer but has a drying rack that easily dried things overnight for us).
