You can hear and see the sea from every room on the house; the first thing you will see when you open your eyes in the morning is the sea. There is a first floor master bedroom, with French doors that open onto the deck and an attached master bath. Sip your coffee on the deck and then take a walk on the miles of wooded trails right out the back door. This is the perfect place to come and sit, read and relax. Upstairs there are three additional bedrooms, one with a queen bed, one with a full bed and one with two twin beds. There is another bathroom with a full bath tub. The kitchen is small but well appointed. The house is light filled and airy and designed to draw you to the view of the sea and the nature surrounding the house. You will see bald eagles (there's a nest near by), and osprey; you'll see lobster-fishing boats right out the window. If you need like a night out, Rockland and Camden (20 and 40 mins respectively) offer excellent dining options as well as galleries and shopping. We own the cottage next door as well (VRBO 174769), we occasionally rent them together for larger gatherings. Although there is a cottage next door, we constructed the new cottage to have excellent privacy. This property has been in my family for generations, we have brought our kids here for holidays and summers, they are growing up and we built this cottage in anticipation of the next generation! The sound of the waves crashing against the rocks was a soothing sound throughout the day and the walking trails in the woods were an unexpected bonus. The house was the perfect size for our family and we appreciated having three bedrooms with ocean views. The only cons were minor: some more silverware in the kitchen would be appreciated as would more storage to unpack clothes in the bedrooms, and we felt we needed to use spring water for drinking and cooking given the iron in the well water. The house has large windows which make it light filled and airy. The furniture is comfortable with lovely decor. It was nice to have heat on one chilly night. A few of the amenities listed we were not able to locate such as the hot tub, hair dryer and outdoor grill. Access from the parking area to the house was down a hill which was challenging when loading and unloading the car. But regardless, we had a wonderful stay in this beautiful cottage by the sea.
