Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best area to stay in Tayi?

The best area to stay in Tayi is the central area around the main market and the municipal assembly.

This area is the heart of Tayi, offering a convenient base for exploring the town. You'll find a concentration of local shops, eateries, and essential services here. The main market is a bustling hub, especially on market days, and the municipal assembly building is a prominent landmark.

For travellers looking for convenience and a central location, staying near the market is ideal. It provides easy access to local transport and allows for a genuine experience of daily life in Tayi.

When is the best time to go to Tayi?

The best time to visit Tayi is during the dry season, which runs from November to March.

During these months, you'll experience consistently sunny weather and lower humidity, making it ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the Oti Region. The roads are generally in better condition during the dry season, which is a significant advantage for travellers looking for convenient access to attractions outside the immediate town.

Couples often find this period great for a relaxing getaway. The pleasant weather allows for comfortable boat trips on the Oti River or exploring the nearby Kyabobo National Park without the disruption of heavy rains. You can enjoy strolls through town and dining outdoors in the evenings.

For those interested in local culture and outdoor activities, the dry season offers the best conditions. Many local festivals take place around this time, and the clearer skies are excellent for wildlife viewing in the surrounding areas.
