    Ghana Hotel Guide

Ghana is a West African nation that shares a border with the Atlantic Ocean. The country's name means "Warrior King" and invokes images of the country's medieval history having finally re-established its independence in 1957.

Ghana is the world's top producer of cocoa, and guests at hotels in Ghana can celebrate this with a cup of the hot beverage. Prices for food and drinks are reasonable, which makes a visit affordable on most any budget.

Known also for its rich cultural diversity, Ghana welcomes visitors with much hospitality. Ghana hotel deals make the most of this diversity by offering cuisine, sightseeing tours, and music that represent the array of traditions practised in the country. The different ethnic groups of Ghana have their own musical and artistic traditions. To truly experience the country, travellers might consider hiring a guide to take them to different types of villages in the country.

Another important tradition of Ghana is its Kente cloth. Different symbols and colours have different meanings. The fabrics are used to produce clothing and accessories. Many visitors arrange for a special cloth to be woven and bring these home as souvenirs.

Famous for Lake Volta, which is the world's biggest artificial lake when measured by surface area, other important geographic features including low, sandy beaches and the low hills of the Akwapim-Togo range. Many Ghana hotel packages offer expeditionary tours of these landscapes.

Ghana's biodiversity includes forests of mahogany, ebony, oil palms, and mangroves. The beauty of these woods is often showcased in the furnishings of rooms in Ghana hotels.

    "Luxury in Kumasi"
Not my first stay at the Golden Tulip. Always a pleasant experience. Except this time I opted for the apartment-type room. Extremely spacious and comfortable. Perfect for several days. The apartments are in a secluded part of the hotel, perfect for getting away from the hustle and bustle of the reception or swimming pool area. The few negative points: the breakfast buffet is not what it used to be (I have been going to Golden Tulip since 2010), the lighting in the room was not adequate (more lamps or higher wattage is needed). Finally if you stay over a weekend, expect the swimming pool to be swarmed by non-hotel residents. The hotel sells access to the pool, to the detriment of its own guests. I had to wait for a lounge chair both Saturday and Sunday. And once seated, it was not a relaxing experience at all!
