Find hotels in Tâmna from CA $56

The best area to stay in Tâmna is typically around the county capital, Drobeta-Turnu Severin, as Tâmna itself is a rural commune without dedicated tourist accommodation.

Drobeta-Turnu Severin offers the most convenient base for exploring the Mehedinți County region. The city is situated on the Danube River and features the remains of Trajan's Bridge, the Medieval Fortress of Severin, and the Water Castle. The main thoroughfare, Boulevard Tudor Vladimirescu, runs through the city centre, where you'll find most of the shops, restaurants, and hotels.

For couples looking for a comfortable stay with good access to local attractions, hotels near the Danube promenade are an excellent choice. These often provide scenic views of the river and are within walking distance of historical sites and dining options. It's a pleasant area for evening strolls and enjoying the local culture.

Families travelling with children might prefer accommodation slightly away from the busiest central streets, perhaps closer to parks or quieter residential areas within Drobeta-Turnu Severin.

The best time to go to Tâmna for pleasant weather and outdoor activities is generally during the late spring (May to June) and early autumn (September to October).

During these months, you'll experience mild temperatures, typically ranging from 15°C to 25°C, with less humidity and fewer rainy days compared to the summer. This makes it ideal for exploring the natural beauty of Mehedinți County, such as hiking in the nearby mountains or visiting the Iron Gates Natural Park without the intense summer heat. These periods also offer beautiful scenery, with blooming wildflowers in spring and colourful foliage in autumn, which is particularly appealing for travellers who appreciate photography or leisurely walks.

Couples looking for a peaceful getaway often find these shoulder seasons perfect. The weather is agreeable for exploring the local vineyards, enjoying quiet evenings at guesthouses, and visiting historical sites like the Severin Fortress without the larger crowds of peak summer.
