The best area to stay in Tama is in the village itself, particularly around the Church of Santa María and the main square.

This area is the heart of Tama, offering a quiet and authentic experience of rural Cantabria. You'll find a few local eateries and shops clustered around the central square, and the village's layout makes it easy to explore on foot. Its elevated position provides lovely views of the surrounding valley and mountains.

For couples seeking a peaceful retreat and access to nature, staying in Tama village is ideal. It provides a relaxed base for exploring the Picos de Europa National Park, with numerous walking trails starting right from the village or a short drive away.

For a blend of pleasant weather and fewer crowds, the best time to visit Tama is during the late spring (May to early June) or early autumn (September to early October).

During these periods, the Picos de Europa National Park, which surrounds Tama, experiences milder temperatures, making it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking and exploring the natural beauty. The trails are typically clear, and the views are often spectacular without the intense heat of mid-summer. It's also a good time for those who prefer a more tranquil experience, as the peak summer holidaymakers haven't fully arrived or have already departed.

Summer, from mid-June to August, offers the warmest weather and is superb for those who enjoy long daylight hours and don't mind more people. This is the prime time for families, as many local attractions and services are in full swing. However, popular hiking routes can get busy, and accommodation might require booking further in advance.

Winter, from November to April, can be cold with potential for snow, particularly in the higher elevations. While some might find this appealing for winter sports or a quiet retreat, many of the more accessible hiking paths might be closed or challenging to navigate.
