Mara hilltop

Mara hilltop

10/10 Excellent
"I've been to Mara a few times, this is truly one of the best places to stay. I believe it's a new camp - excellent location, close to the main gate but also in the nature to make it feel like you're within the park. The views are breathtaking, one of the best sunsets I've ever seen! Good, cozy vibes as well, the staff is so friendly. You're basically in the middle of the Mara nature. Also, I highly recommend the nature walk! Get to see so many animals around (we saw giraffes, zebras, wilderbeests, pumbas and gazelles). Food is amazing as well - loved the pizza and grill night and the surprise dance from the Maasai staff! Shoutout to Peter, Dickson! Also the safari driver was amazing (I think his name was Timothy). Will be coming back again!"

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to go to Talek?
The best time to go to Talek is during the dry seasons, which run from late June to October and again from late December to February.

These periods offer the most reliable wildlife viewing experiences. The vegetation is sparser, making it easier to spot animals, and wildlife tends to congregate around permanent water sources. The weather is generally sunny with cooler mornings and evenings, great for game drives.

For travellers interested in witnessing the Great Migration, the best time to visit is typically from July to October. During these months, millions of wildebeest and zebra cross the Mara River into the Maasai Mara, offering a spectacular natural event. This is particularly appealing for those seeking an unforgettable photographic opportunity or a truly iconic safari experience.

If you prefer a quieter safari experience with fewer crowds and potentially lower prices, the 'shoulder seasons' just outside the peak dry months can be good.
