We are lucky to be in a extremely quiet location with virtually no road noise, night time is silent ( apart from the occasional wildlife) and as we are not facing directly down the Stroud Valleys we have virtually no light pollution at night time....it really is an ideal place to rest and relax and star gaze ( telescope in master bedroom) . OUR UNIQUE SELLING POINTS : Peace and quiet. Beautiful Countryside green views from every window over the Golden Valleys. Calming, warm decor and lighting specifically designed to reduce stress and anxiety and induce feelings of wellbeing and relaxation. Bespoke pieces of furniture and artwork. Hi speed free WiFi , flat screen TV and blue tooth speaker. South facing garden with table , chairs and umbrella. There is also a BBQ and four sun loungers. Picnic hamper and blanket. Luxury cotton towels and bedding. Fully equipped kitchen with many extras. Comprehensive information and contact folder located in the cottage kitchen Walking routes, historical local books, eye candy books. Playing cards and Board games for everyone and a huge variety of DVDs and novels. Quintessential 17th Century Cotswold stone pub with lovely garden and countryside views - less than 5 mins walk also serves delicious real home made meals . Easy access to many charming bistro pubs and acclaimed restaurants. We live next door so whilst respecting your privacy we are there to help/advise if needed. PLEASE take some time and read our genuine REVIEWS on this site for a view of what previous guests think of our cottage. We are ideally located for touring but there is so much directly on the doorstep that you do not need to travel far , the area is extremely beautiful but as yet is not subject to mass tourism such as Stow on the Wold , Bibury, The Slaughters, Burford, Moreton on the Marsh etc. ( All definitely worth a visit though ). Despite being in a quiet setting we have other local amenities such as mini supermarket, pharmacy , ATM ,takeaways, fuel station ( plus many other pubs within a 5- 10 mins drive away) . The cottage is full of character which includes Cotswold stone interior walls, wooden floors, beams, window seats, inglenook fireplace with log burner and antique furniture. The cottage affords great views from the outside private lawned garden, kitchen, lounge and both bedrooms over fields, wooded valleys and pretty cottages both bedrooms have amazing high A framed beamed ceilings. There is one bathroom on the first floor which is close to both bedrooms, the bathroom has a walk in shower and a bath with overhead shower. The lounge area is bright and includes flat screen TV and DVD player (there is a large variety of DVDs and books in the cottage), the lounge area leads through to a separate ambient snug/dining room with dining table for four. The kitchen has a large range cooker, Belfast sink, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge and small separate freezer. Both bedrooms have faux fireplaces, great views and are of a good size, one has a double bed and the other has a king size bed both have ample storage space. Care has been taken with soft furnishings and decor to ensure you have a relaxing comfortable holiday. There is allocated parking directly next to the cottage on a private drive. We have two pubs in the village which are walkable (one is three minute walk and other one is ten minutes ) and both serve food, we also have a cafe which is also a ten minute easy walk, it is close to the furthest pub. They are open daily from 10am and serve breakfasts, lunch and delicious cakes but unfortunately they currently do not serve breakfast or lunch on Sundays just drinks and cakes. It is advisable to book ahead in either pub if you want to eat: 3 mins walk - The KingsHead Pub, France Lynch, Stroud, 10 mins walk - The Old Neighbourhood Inn, Chalford, Stroud. Chalford ( just next door to France Lynch ) is now becoming famous for its annual Party on the Hill ‘ CHALFEST ‘ which is attracting international stars such as Sophie Ellis Bextor, SisterBliss ( Faithless), Alexandra Burke and The Blockheads. The concert runs for two nights every July ( Friday for locals and Saturday open for public) . It is a ticket only event which much be purchased on the on line site. For those who don’t enjoy music don’t worry as the festival is in a central village park it closes promptly at 10.00pm both nights. Une cuisine très bien équipée, un salon confortable muni d’un foyer au bois qui nous réchauffe à la fin d’une journée plutôt nuageuse et frisquette. Une literie et un lit qui permettent une nuit de tout repos. Des petites attentions à l’arrivée qui sont les bienvenues. Tout pour nous plaire. Quel endroit merveilleux pour visiter cette magnifique région des Cotswolds. Ann nous a aussi très bien informés sur la façon de se rendre au cottage, sur les services, restaurants et activités de la région et a répondu rapidement à toutes nos questions. My wife and two friends and I had one week in Europe. We stayed two nights in London, two nights in Paris, and three nights here. It was a perfect way to end our very busy week. There is so much to do in the area, we were only able to use the cottage as a way to rest our heads for the night.The hosts were on a holiday themselves when we arrived. So, unfortunately we were unable to meet them In person. Communication was very good and straightforward.If we ever visit the area again, I will definitely be looking to stay here. Mike ##### Mike B. Great location for us, very peaceful but close enough to nearby towns and a stone’s throw from the local pub The Kings Head where everyone was very welcoming. The owners of the cottage had thought of everything! It was beautifully decorated and dressed…absolutely faultless. From the moment we arrived with the welcome bottle of champagne and goodies, we felt perfectly at home. There are too many fabulous details to capture here, though I will note that it was such a joy to look at the beautiful decor and perfectly chosen accessories throughout the house. And that kitchen! It became the gathering point as it was so cozy and good-sized at the same time.Ann was great in her communications. We had two additional guests who wanted to join us for New Year’s, and Ann was so understanding and kind in accommodating them at the last minute. Oxford Cottage House was the highlight of our stay in England and our home base for our day trips to Bath, Gloucester, Oxford, and Bourton-On-The-Water. The cottage is cozy, immaculate, and the view of the valley is beautiful. This is a warning. You might be tempted to stay forever. Our trips to the village pub, Kings Head, only a few minutes walk up the road, were a ton of fun as Joe, the owner, his family, and other villagers, helped us feel at home.
