Surrounded by open, expansive garden and within just a short walk of both Sudeley Castle and the town of Winchcombe, Almsbury's location is idyllic. Bursting with unique period features, hidden staircases, surprise rooms and all the utilities and equipment you will need, Almsbury is the ideal property for larger groups and families looking for a little more space. Spread over three floors, on the ground floor guests have use of a cosy sitting room, impressively large dining room, kitchen, utility room, children's playroom, downstairs WC and snug/breakfast room. There is access to the first floor via two separate staircases, where three sumptuous king size double bedrooms can be found, two with en-suite bathrooms as well as one family bathroom. Go up a smaller staircase to the second floor, and you will find three twin bedrooms, one is very large with plenty of beanbags - making for a great alternative playroom! There is also another family bathroom on the second floor. The annexe is self-contained, featuring a downstairs kitchen/living area and upstairs double bedroom and en-suite bathroom. Outside, guests have access to a large garden, as well as a raised decking area with outdoor dining furniture. Lady Ashcombe has taken a special interest in the design and furnishing of the farmhouse and has personally selected works of art, objects and furniture that reflect the history and unique character of the building. Some of the contents come directly from the Castle's collection, others from local antique shops and auction rooms. Main House - Ground Floor Entrance Hall: The old front door leads into a stone-floored entrance hall which leads into the sitting room (up two steps) and the dining room. One of the two flights of stairs to the first floor is in front of you, leading to a spacious landing with bookshelves and seating for reading with views of the courtyard. Sitting Room: This spacious room is elegant and welcoming, complete with two large sofas to seat eight people, two chairs, a decorative fireplace, a 65" TV and a Blu-ray player. There is a choice of reading material on the bookshelves, a large upholstered stool doubles as a place to rest your book, and the two windows have window seats where you can perch and look out at the view. Dining Room: A real talking point of the house, the dining room seats 14 guests comfortably around a large dining table, it's the perfect spot for convivial meals with all your guests. A wood-burning stove is flanked by two large windows, filling the room with light, a further bay window looking onto the rear courtyard. Snug/Breakfast Room: This is a charmingly cosy room if you're looking to dine in a slightly more informal environment than the dining room, it's a lovely place for a relaxed breakfast. There's a wood-burning stove within an original stone fireplace, a dining table seating six, a sofa and a 40" TV. Kitchen: There are two steps down into the kitchen, which is a well equipped and social space with an extendable island in the centre. Preparing meals is easy with a range-style oven, free standing fridge and separate built-in fridge. There's also a microwave and a dishwasher, whilst coffee fans will be happy with the Nespresso coffee maker. As you'd expect the kitchen is fully equipped with plenty of utensils, crockery and glasses. Boot/Utility Room: This is a useful space for drying and muddy boots! There's a washing/dryer machine, second dishwasher, deep ceramic sink, ironing board and clothes airer. You will also find outside glasses and plates kept in the cupboards above the sink. Downstairs WC: A downstairs WC with washbasin and heated towel rail. Playroom/Snug: A perfect little room for children, the playroom has a TV and a sofa. First Floor Bedroom 4: A charming king-size bedroom with a decorative fireplace, two large built-in wardrobes, dressing table and beautiful views out towards the garden. Bedroom 5: A spacious king-size bedroom with two large built-in wardrobes, safe, chest of drawers and a rocking chair. En-Suite Bathroom: Steps lead up from the bedroom into an en-suite bathroom with a bath with overhead shower, twin washbasins, WC and decorative fireplace. Family Bathroom: Large walk-in power shower, free-standing roll-top bath, heated towel rail, WC and washbasin. Bedroom 6: A lovely king-size bedroom with decorative fireplace, large built-in wardrobe, chest of drawers and views out to the front garden. This bedroom can also be accessed by the separate staircase from the entrance hall. En-Suite Bathroom: En-suite bathroom with walk-in power shower, WC and washbasin. Second Floor Landing: A spacious landing area, to be used as a dressing room or an ideal space for a cot. Family Bathroom: A comfortable family bathroom with a built-in bath and overhead shower, WC and washbasin. Bedroom 1: A bright and spacious twin bedroom with bedside tables and reading lamps. Bedroom 2: A comfortable twin bedroom with reading lamps and a sweet writing desk for those looking to work away from the hustle and bustle. Bedroom 3: Located through Bedroom 2, this is a very large twin bedroom set in the eaves of the house, with twin beds, a sofa, free-standing clothes hanger and plenty of beanbags. A perfect set-up for children and doubles as an excellent second playroom. Please note, this bedroom can only be accessed by walking through Bedroom 2. Outside To the rear of the property is a large, tiered lawned garden framed by a Cotswold stone wall and trees, Winchcombe's picturesque church stands proudly in the background. On raised decking, there is a garden table for 14 people with a retractable parasol, and a BBQ (charcoal - please bring your own fuel). To the front, there is a sloping lawn with the Isbourne River gently running along at the bottom. The Church and rooftops of Winchcombe can be seen in the near distance. There is ample parking for 8-10 vehicles. The Annexe Across the gravelled courtyard from the main house is the Annexe. This self-contained, two-story, one-bedroom, one-bathroom additional accommodation is ideal for large family groups who have one or two guests who prefer extra privacy or quiet. Step through the front door into the hallway, where there's plenty of room to leave boots, shoes, and coats. To the left is the staircase to the bedroom and bathroom. The annexe features an open-plan kitchen-living-dining area, with original arched doors opening onto the courtyard and a window in the kitchen area overlooking the Farmhouse's fabulous garden and outdoor seating area. The living-dining space has a two-seater sofa, coffee table and a dining table for two. The kitchen is equipped with a hob/oven, toaster and kettle, plus basic utensils for preparing a simple meal/snack. Guests staying in The Annexe typically eat in the Farmhouse. On the first floor, there is a spacious, ensuite bedroom with a vaulted and beamed ceiling. The bedroom is furnished with a king-size double bed, bedside drawers with reading lamps, a chest of drawers (with hairdryer), a desk/dressing table, a hanging rail, a chair and a full-length mirror. The en-suite bathroom has a walk-in power shower, washbasin and mirror, toilet, and heated towel rail. Jul 5, 2025 #### Beautiful property - perfect for large family gathering We had a wonderful time at Almsbury Farmhouse. It was nicely appointed with everything we needed. There were plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for our entire party to be comfortable. In addition, we loved the cozy sitting room and the enclosed backyard and patio area. It is a quick walk into Winchcombe or to Sudeley Castle. Winchcombe is a fantastic base for exploring the Cotswolds. We hope to be back soon! ##### Katherine W. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Amanda E. Barbecue on the first night with all equipment there and then dinner out in Winchcombe on the subsequent 2 nights in 2 of the town’s excellent restaurants. A drive down to Woodchester Vineyard one day and a cycle up to Cotswold Lavender farm the next day. A drop in at the fascinating Sudeley Castle on the way. So much to do within easy daily access from this venue. This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Georgina S. Jul 10, 2025 #### Fantastic to book for wedding guests, beautiful and full of character Wow what a property. We were lucky to stay on a beautiful weekend for our wedding when the grass was green, roses were out and the house was looking great. It took us 20 mins to get our bearing as the house is so higgeldy-piggeldy but that's what I love about it! Access to the 1st floor via two parts of the house was great so our guests weren't on top of each other. Most rooms had their own bathroom. Clean, lovely light in the house, fantastic kitchen. ##### Georgina S. Separate annex very handy. Fabulous location at the entrance to Sudeley Castle - well worth a visit, more fun than NT properties. Big back garden for dogs to run around and rugby balls to be thrown. If you find a green frisbee it's mine. WiFi is slow and TV hard to watch (Lions game Saturday) due to bandwidth. Winchcombe is pleasant albeit busy. White Hart Inn dreadful service. Top tip for family group:- Hire a narrowboat from Bidford Boats. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Katie S. Apr 7, 2024 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Great location, well laid out property The property is in a great location for Winchcombe. Walking distance (5 mins) to the centre. Would highly recommend the Lion Inn particularly in the village centre. The outdoor walled patio area is great, think it should be more easily accessed off the house if possible. Would recommend though for a family get together. ##### Greig L. Fantastic house with plenty of room for our family gathering. Everyone was happy with their bedrooms and the Annex was warm and cosy. Lots of walks from the doorstep and being able to visit Sudeley Castle and grounds for free as many times as you wanted was a real bonus. May 20, 2025 #### A Sudeley Sixtieth We stayed at Almsbury Farmhouse with friends to celebrate my 60th birthday and we had a truly wonderful time. The weather was superb and so we were able to make full use of the generous outdoor space and barbeque. The space indoors is equally impressive and the whole place is extremely comfortable and impressively well equipped. The number of separate spaces make it especially suitable for parties of mixed age. We loved being able to walk into Winchcombe so easily and having free access to Sudeley Castle. As we had tickets for Giffords Circus, the location could not have been better. The only slight negative was that some peeling paintwork and dirty windows meant that the property was not quite as pristine as it appears in the photos. This would in no way put us off returning however. ##### Catherine B. Perfect for a family spanning three generations. Plenty of space. Well equipped kitchen with lovely spacious dining room to seat 14 people. Bolthole website gave information on local private chef(the Season Kitchen) who provided us with a wonderful celebration dinner. A relaxed happy weekend was enjoyed by all. The Almsbury Famhouse provided more of everything we required to have a great experience for our family vacation. The property is located so that we were able to visit all the towns that we had on our schedule without long drives. The facility has everything one needs for comfort; our family of eleven was delighted with all the accoutrements in place. I highly recommend the Almsbury Farmhouse and give highest marks for this facility! We all agree to return in the future which is a first for our group! ##### Lewis G. Nov 11, 2024 #### Great house and surrounds In the end, we were a party of 16 so we also booked Archers but most of our activities and evening meals were in Almsbury Farmhouse. It was lovely to stas in this perfect Cotswold Sone house, The long dining table was perfect for our group meals while the snug worked well for breakfasts and informal lunches. The provision of large dishes and plenty of workspace in the kitchen was appreciated. The younger members of our party enjoyed sleeping in the attic. One ceiling light was missing from the main bedroom. The surroundings were beautiful - easy access to shops, and many good walks and the castle were enjoyed by all. ##### Jean D. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Richard J. Aug 26, 2022 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Great for family gathering Excellent venue for my children, grandchildren and friends to celebrate my 70th birthday. Well equipped in fantastic location! Only concern was the unstable condition of a number of stone slabs which form patio area. This is a potential danger especially to small children or the elderly as nd needs addressing! ##### Richard J. We had a fantastic time in the house, the kitchen is well kitted out and spacious. The dining room is superb and spacious enough for all the family. The gardens are beautiful. The only thing that we needed but couldn’t find were wine buckets! We looked everywhere!!! Other than that it was a wonderful weekend and a lovely house which we would recommend. It was an outstanding place to stay, everything and more was provided at a very high standard, with lots of additional touches. Large comfy beds, soft towels and great location. The garden was perfect, secluded, picturesque with a great BBQ and plenty of room for garden games. We felt like we were in a French Chateau. It made the whole wedding experience a real treat. Cannot recommended highly enough. Fabulous customer service, thank you so much we feel privileged to have stayed at Almsbury Farmhouse. ## Expedia's Latest Trends ### Hotels > [Hotels in Williams Lake](https://www.expedia.ca/Williams-Lake-Hotels.d4112.Travel-Guide-Hotels) > > [Holiday Inn London-Gatwick Airport by IHG](https://www.expedia.ca/Horley-Hotels-Holiday-Inn-London-Gatwick-Airport.h16918.Hotel-Information) > > [The Porch House](https://www.expedia.ca/Cheltenham-Hotels-The-Porch-House.h4595892.Hotel-Information) > > [The Belfry](https://www.expedia.ca/Birmingham-Hotels-The-Belfry.h3976.Hotel-Information) > > [Sunscape Dominicus La Romana - All Inclusive](https://www.expedia.ca/Punta-Cana-Hotels-Be-Live-Collection-Canoa-All-Inclusive.h852324.Hotel-Information) > > [Hotel St. James](https://www.expedia.ca/New-York-Hotels-Hotel-St-James.h1144474.Hotel-Information) > > [Royal Whitby](https://www.expedia.ca/Whitby-Hotels-The-Royal-Hotel.h57917040.Hotel-Information) > > [Hotels in Las Vegas Strip](https://www.expedia.ca/Las-Vegas-Strip-Las-Vegas-Hotels.0-n800045-0.Travel-Guide-Filter-Hotels) > > [Millcroft](https://www.expedia.ca/Penrith-Hotels-Millcroft.h26994538.Hotel-Information) > > [Casa de Campo Resort and Villas](https://www.expedia.ca/Punta-Cana-Hotels-Casa-De-Campo-Resort-And-Villas.h893050.Hotel-Information) > > [The Greenway Hotel & Spa](https://www.expedia.ca/Cheltenham-Hotels-The-Greenway-Hotel-Spa.h520203.Hotel-Information) > > [Pine Lake Resort](https://www.expedia.ca/Carnforth-Hotels-Pine-Lake-Resort.h1928661.Hotel-Information) > > [Burgh Island Hotel](https://www.expedia.ca/Kingsbridge-Hotels-Burgh-Island-Hotel.h34611055.Hotel-Information) > > [Holiday Inn Hull Marina by IHG](https://www.expedia.ca/Hull-Hotels-Holiday-Inn-Hull-Marina.h10609.Hotel-Information) > > [Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire](https://www.expedia.ca/Hook-Hotels-Four-Seasons-Hotel-Hampshire.h986107.Hotel-Information) > > [Radisson Hotel Manchester City Centre, A Verified Net Zero Hotel](https://www.expedia.ca/Manchester-Hotels-Park-Inn-By-Radisson-Manchester-City-Centre.h2601411.Hotel-Information) > > [Cave Hotel & Golf Resort](https://www.expedia.ca/Faversham-Hotels-Cave-Hotel-Golf-Resort.h33410673.Hotel-Information) > > [Lakes Hotel and Spa](https://www.expedia.ca/Windermere-Hotels-Lakes-Hotel-And-Spa.h901040.Hotel-Information) > > [Delta Hotels by Marriott Heathrow Windsor](https://www.expedia.ca/Slough-Hotels-Heathrow-Windsor-Marriott-Hotel.h3830.Hotel-Information) > > [All Inclusive Resorts and Hotels in Costa Rica](https://www.expedia.ca/Destinations-In-Costa-Rica-All-Inclusive-Hotel.0-0-d42-tAllInclusiveHotel.Hotel-Filter-Destinations) ### Flights > [Flights from Calgary (YYC) to Yellowknife (YZF)](https://www.expedia.ca/lp/flights/yyc/yzf/calgary-to-yellowknife) > > [Flights from Goffs (YHZ) to Winnipeg (YWG)](https://www.expedia.ca/lp/flights/yhz/ywg/halifax-to-winnipeg) > > [Flights from Ottawa (YOW) to Detroit (DTW)](https://www.expedia.ca/lp/flights/yow/dtw/ottawa-to-detroit) > > [Flights from Toronto (YYZ) to Vancouver (YVR)](https://www.expedia.ca/lp/flights/yyz/yvr/toronto-to-vancouver) > > [flights from seward airport](https://www.expedia.ca/lp/airports/swd/flights-from-seward-airport) ### Cars > [Car rentals in Comox](https://www.expedia.ca/Car-Rentals-In-Comox.d4052.Car-Rental-Guide) ### Packages > [Switzerland](https://www.expedia.ca/lp/theme-vacations/all-inclusive-vacations/174/Switzerland) ### Vacation Rentals > [Manitoulin Island Vacation Rentals](https://www.expedia.ca/Manitoulin-Island-Vacation-Rentals.d6339922.Travel-Guide-VacationRentals)
