Juste avant d'emprunter le pont Mackinac Bridge et de quitter la péninsule inférieure, faites un arrêt au phare Old Mackinac Point Light. Cette structure pittoresque ressemble plus à un château qu'à un signal à l'intention des navires. Faites une visite guidée dans Colonial Michilimackinac State Park, ou partez avec votre goûter pour en découvrir les merveilles. Le bras d'eau fait également partie d'un parc protégé nommé Straits of Mackinac Shipwreck Preserve. Ce couloir dont les dangers sont notoires abrite pas moins de treize épaves connues et constitue une destination prisée des plongeurs amateurs. Prenez un vol ou un traversier vers Mackinac Island. Vous ferez un voyage dans le temps, avant l'invention des véhicules motorisés. Vous vous y déplacerez en voiture taxi tirée par un cheval ou encore à vélo. Revivez des moments historiques à Fort Mackinac, un avant-poste militaire américain qui a été témoin de la guerre de l'Indépendance et de la guerre de 1812\. Ne manquez pas Arch Rock, une pure merveille géologique. Louez un kayak ou profitez d'une journée de pêche pour admirer les splendeurs de la région.
