Stone Tolan House Museum Tours and Activities

This was our second time staying at RIT - we definitely preferred the executive room we had last time it was more updated and seemed cleaner (mostly just the tub had a bunch of grime and possibly black mold in the grout the rest of the room was ok just dated and still carpeted. Staff were friendly and check-in/out was easy. Kids were disappointed not to get to swim before we left as we didn't check pool hours for weekdays and the pool didn't open until 3pm. All in all though the hotel is in a nice, quiet area, rooms are spacious and a good distance from what we were doing so it is a top choice for our family to stay

This historic property is worn, but it may be getting updated. Our very large room had a comfortably sized newly renovated bathroom, but it seemed to have been designed by a 15 year-old boy with extremely limited experience actually using a bathroom for grooming purposes. There was a small but adequate corner sink with tall narrow mirrors on each side set at a 90 degree angle. It was impossible to get a view of one's face that didn't have a big line down the middle. Also, because of the placement of a shelf and towel bar it was almost impossible to use the hairdryer in a way to see oneself in the full length mirror on the back of the bathroom door. Our room was large and could easily have accommodated two small chairs and a table. It had no coffee maker, no refrigerator and only one chair. Bed was comfortable. Our reservation included a $25 credit for food or beverages in the restaurant. We were unable to find any restaurant, there were no signs. Next morning we found a closed bar with 5 or 6 tables set for a meal. There was nothing in the hotel open for breakfast. There was an empty coffee carafe in the lobby with no milk or sugar packets and a tray that had some crumbs on it, so presumably somebody got muffins or something. We just left. When staff has no experience staying in a hotel and little training it puts the onus on the guest to ask for everything. That's a drag. Stay was disappointing.
