The description on HomeAway was absolutely fair. The owners greeted us very nicely on arrival, and kept in touch by text message. We stayed for a multi-generational week, with six adults, two children aged eight and four, and a twelve-month old baby. It was perfectly suitable for this number, as expected. The kitchen was well-equipped. Family meals on the patio, including barbecues, were delightful, including eating ripe grapes off the overhanging vines. There is a big supermarket ten minutes away by car. We believe it sometimes has short opening hours on Sunday. The living room was a grand space, and well-equipped with, sofas, high and low tables, and, for example, a blue-tooth-enabled speaker system. The bedrooms were pleasant, and bathrooms good, and, again, well-equipped. The furnishings and decorations were stylish and, with a very few adjustments, eminently child-friendly, and baby-friendly. The pool, with its recliners, was a great hit. Otherwise there is not much garden, as is clear on the website.
I have given four stars for cleanliness primarily because the patio, where we ate every evening, inevitably had food dropped on it (Baby!), attracting creatures, and there was no easy way to clean it. Secondarily we had a fair number of little ants in the master bedroom/bathroom . We tackled them with the supplied killer spray, but Martin, or the concierge Isabelle (a pleasant lady) should try to eliminate them entirely - not easy, we appreciate.
As for four stars for ‘Location and Neighbourhood’, this is simply a reflection of the correctly advertised position of the property, which is suburban, and some distance from a boulangerie, cafe, restaurant, ice-cream shop, and so on.
Concerning the overall four stars, it was hot (34 degrees) though not as severe a heat-wave as will unfortunately increasingly be common, and while the air-conditioning in the main building was fine, that in the Mazet annex was not, even with the ceiling fan, and the door and shutters closed during the day; two adults and a baby were not quite comfortable. It is a pity, but I suggest that a mobile air-conditioning unit is necessary in there.
