"I've stayed at the Yankee Inn a number of times, and I'm always very pleased. It is extremely clean and well tended to, even the rooms in older building are fresh and clean. The employees are very friendly, ready to help at every moment. The breakfast is varied and ample and tasty. The indoor pool and hot tub are great, and the outdoor pool is delicious, especially on the kind of bright sunny day I was there. The location is terrific. You can go behind the hotel and sit by a quiet pond, or you can take the exit and be withing a short distance of shopping, quality entertainment such as Tanglewood, and multiple outdoor areas for hiking/walking for any age and ability. The Hancock Shaker Village is less than 15 minutes away and definitely worth a full day's visit. I had two small issues that could be easily addressed: The lighting in my room wasn't great--the bulbs were not very bright and the lamps were kind of ugly, but it's was mostly a matter of taste. And I would very much appreciate a night light in the sink area, as it's very dark, no ambient light, and easy to trip getting to the bathroom at 3 a.m. This could be a big issue for seniors who are a little unsteady."

"We had a good stay at the Black Swann Inn. I think some of the mixed comments can be understood in terms of expectations. It is. It a quaint New England inn with a common room and cushy furniture. It is more like a holiday inn. With that understanding it does its job - it is clean, comfortable and has the bonus of outdoor space on the lake with Adirondack chairs and boat rentals. "

"The hotel and grounds are gorgeous. A lot of thought went into the design and it shows. We loved the open modern feel of the room and view of the Hudson was amazing. We also loved the electric shades allowing an almost blackout experience. The staff was very accommodating. They filled our small cooler with ice daily since they don’t have a public ice maker. Having a gym right next door was perfect and although I was not able to book a massage due to time constraints, I loved the option of the spa being right next door. There was an issue with booking a massage online during my stay when trying to find a time that worked for me, but the staff helped by getting me the phone number and I did get a text back very quickly. A few nit picky things that would improve the experience would be to swap out the plastic shower curtains, have tissues in the room and the option of feather pillows. Also for security consider having the elevators only work if the person has a room card like other major hotels. Side note: Currently the waterfront area is being rejuvenated. There are some restaurant options close by, but not a lot of shops. From what I learned, there is a big push to renovate and get shops open. Once that happens this will be a great little gem. Right now it’s a great place to stay if you are ok with hanging out at the nearby park and driving about a half hour to Hudson or Catskill for shops. (And many of those only open later in the week - Wednesday or Thursday - Saturday). "
