"Stayed 4 nights in a Club Room in August. The balcony floor tiles had not been cleaned as still had spills from previous occupants; shower was not clean as it should be. Property has lovely gardens, but there is no attention to detail. The rubbish bins by the adult pool were not emptied during our stay, pool lounger covers stained and grubby, and food and drink stains on tiled pool surrounds. The pool itself was clean but surrounding areas around the pool were never cleaned or hosed down. Buffet was ok and dining at the restaurants, food was generally good. Staff were sometimes overwhelmed when it was busy. One evening at the Sunset Bar one staff member was trying to put cushions out on all the chairs and sofas while guests were trying sit down, which ended up with guests sitting on cushion backs instead of cushion seats. Another evening one of the managers was sitting down one end of the bar in the Hibiscus Lounge doing admin work, which is not a good look. The tables in this lounge had not been wiped clean. This is advertised as 5 star, but it is not, it is average. There should be Managers in place, who check the standard of cleaning, even the stairs up into the restaurants/bar areas were dirty, how hard would it be to hose down."

"The 4 nights my wife and I spent at the Shangri-La Fijian at the end of August were very relaxing and enjoyable. The entire staff upheld the super-friendly reputation of the Fijian culture. Every time we interacted with restaurant servers ( such as asking about the menus, or asking them to take photos of us), they graciously responded. The ocean view from our room was wonderful! I love to snorkel, and I found lots of fish as I swam out from the beach area. A highlight of our stay was the late buffet breakfasts that we had at the Golden Cowrie with lots of food and beverage choices along with a delightful view of the ocean."

"This is not a swanky resort. Seems to be used mostly by divers for a night or two. The food was not good, basic western menus done badly - greasy breakfast, pasta with jarred sauce, pizza that was missing toppings. We went off site and found the burger place next door to it Beach Bum Burgers, was seriously good quality gourmet burgers, homemade and served by the owners, and there's little 'Raj's restaurant' 5 mins up the main road, that did the nicest chicken curry (ask for boneless), it was only $12.50FJD. The few staff on site at Uprising were friendly, the bure was very close to the waters edge, and the grounds were nicely maintained. The drawers by the bed were broken and the bathroom sink was coming away from the base. If you want a no frills resort with friendly locals then I recommend this, if you want luxurious surroundings then steer clear."

"The resort was clean, staff was exceptionally friendly….remembering all our names, taking time to ask how we were doing and if we needed anything. The restaurants offered a wide choice of food. I would definitely recommend the outrigger for a family vacation."

"The staff were wonderful, very helpful and friendly and being adjacent to a beautiful beach was great. The continental breakfast was lovely and included a choice of one hot meal which was a pleasant surprise. Our room was clean and a staff member came every morning to see if we needed anything, eg. more bottled water. However somewhere to sit inside our room would have been good as the only place to sit was on the bed or on the deck outside. The main restaurant was very nice with a large outdoor area. The bar was comfortable with very pleasant staff. The pools were very nice but too cold for us to use unfortunately."
