Find hotels in Sotomó from CA $80

The best area to stay in Sotomó is along the coastline of the Reloncaví Estuary, particularly in the vicinity of the main pier and the handful of local eateries.

This area provides direct access to the sea and the activities centred around it. You'll find most of the village's services here, including small shops for essentials and the launching points for boat trips into the fjords. It's a small, spread-out community, so being near the water puts you at the heart of daily life.

Couples looking for a tranquil escape will appreciate this coastal stretch. The views across the estuary are stunning, and the pace of life is wonderfully slow. It's superb for enjoying peaceful walks along the shore, watching the fishing boats, and savouring fresh seafood in a relaxed setting.

For families, staying close to the main pier offers convenience. Children will enjoy watching the boats and the activity on the water, and there are often opportunities for short, gentle boat tours that depart from here.

The best time to visit Sotomó is during the summer months, from December to March, when the weather is at its most pleasant.

During this period, you'll experience warmer temperatures and less rainfall, which is ideal for enjoying the outdoor activities Sotomó is known for. The days are longer, allowing for extended exploration of the fjords, forests, and thermal springs. This is also when most local businesses and tour operators are fully operational, ensuring you have access to a wide range of experiences.

For those planning to explore the natural beauty of the region, including hiking in the nearby national parks or kayaking along the coastline, these months offer the most comfortable conditions. The clear skies and calmer waters make for excellent photography opportunities and enjoyable excursions. It's a particularly good time for couples looking for a romantic getaway with scenic vistas and outdoor adventures.

Travellers seeking a more tranquil experience might consider the shoulder seasons of November or April. While there might be a slight increase in rainfall, the crowds are smaller, and you can still enjoy many of the region's offerings with a bit more solitude.
