Ambleside Salutation Hotel & Spa
Underwhelming. This is a very ordinary hotel, despite the hot tubs, pool and spa. The decor is vile, all dull browns with turquoise. In the “Troutbeck” room there is a nasty trip hazard into the bathroom. A stubbed toe was annoying but a cracked skull would have been more so. Tip: if it’s not fixed ...

The Belsfield Hotel
Brilliant location in the thick of everything, there is work to one side of the hotel. This doesn't impact on you stay at all. Character Cottage with fabulous mountain views in the North Lakes District
Lovely cottage, idea base for walking in the Lakes. We stayed in February, with snow on the ground. The view of Blencathra is stunning and the heating in the cottage made us feel very cosy.
