"The property was well situated within a few minutes walk of the centre of Pembroke. Room was clean. Only problem was a noisy radiator which I pointed out to the owner and was told it was in hand (the heating had only just been put on and needed a bit of maintenance). Breakfast was good. If you go, i recommend visiting Pembroke Castle and selecting a time when there is a free guided tour…very interesting. Would stay at hotel again."

Hotel Mariners

10/10 Excellent

"Great stay will definitely stay again"

OYO Lamphey Hall

8/10 Good

"Excellent value stay, great location, nice facilities. The guy there this morning was very sociable and helpful. Continental Breakfast was ample and worked well despite not being particularly high quality. The shower in the room was hot, apparently endless hot water, just a bit dated but functional. I'd definitely stay again"

St David's Cross Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"It was quiet, despite being in the centre of things. Food was excellent- breakfast amazing - fresh cooked, excellent veggie sausages. Really liked the fact that you could pick up extra toilet rolls from the shelf or milk from the fridge if you were running low before housekeeping came round. Also oat milk sachets and vegan options on all menus. Staff also v friendly and went above and beyond. Will definitely be back"

Penrhiw Priory

10/10 Excellent

"Such a beautiful stay at Penrihw Priory. The property is like a gorgeous manor house with lovely facilities - a lounge with games and a tv, an honesty bar area and grounds with sun loungers. Our room, meadow, was enormous and so comfortable. Big windows everywhere, plenty of radiators and separate toilet and seperate bathroom. It had a huge walk in shower and bathtub with nice toiletries. We had breakfast at the sister hotel, and the most sensational dinner at Blas restaurant (the lobster risotto changed my life). All the staff were very friendly and even left us a little anniversary card and gift. The hotel is a 20 minute walk from shops and coffee shops and so easy to get to the cathedral. Would absolutely stay again."

Portclew House

10/10 Excellent

"comfy bed, outstanding breakfast, great location for beaches and coast path. Our room had a great view for sunset over Preseli hills. Plenty of storage which helps keep room tidy, always a bonus. Bathroom a little dated but perfectly fine. Warm welcome and friendly staff. Would recommend and definitely stay again, even if it was just for kippers!"

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to go to Skokholm Island?

The best time to visit Skokholm Island is between April and July, when the island's wildlife is at its most active and accessible.

April and May are ideal for those keen to see the puffins. These charismatic birds arrive on the island in large numbers during this period for breeding, and you'll have excellent opportunities to observe them from the designated viewing areas. The island's wildflowers are also in full bloom, adding to the scenic beauty. This period is particularly good for nature enthusiasts and photographers.

June and July are superb for observing Manx shearwaters. While these birds are more active at night due to their nocturnal habits, you'll hear their distinctive calls around the accommodation. During the day, you'll still find plenty of other birdlife, including guillemots and razorbills, on the cliffs. This time is well-suited for birdwatchers interested in a broader range of species and the great experience of the shearwaters.
