The restaurant was closed because there were not enough guests staying at the hotel and our room smell to cigarette smoke despite it was a non-smoking room. I was amazed at the care that was given to me and my wife at our stay. The front desk receptionists were very helpful providing us with useful information. However, the owner/management desperately needs to fix the water heater. We had no hot water the three days we were there. We were told it is solar generated. For a country that is cloudy and rainy multiple months out of the year, there should be a backup system in place. A hot water is a basic expectation of a hotel stay. Management, please fix so your staff can shine! The hot water system is under designed. It was not a great issue due to the very hot weather. The hotel is of funky, modern design with wonderful artistic reverence to it’s local Cambodian heritage. Riversoul is on the quiet side of the river but only 500m walk to the bustling part of Siem Reap.
