Simy and his staff were just perfect from the time we checked in until we checked out 6 days later. No words are available to describe the beauty of Shelter Cove, CA. We had two days of sunshine while the last 4 days were cloudy, but that did not matter. Shelter Cove and The Inn at Lost Coast was heaven on earth. With our window open every night, we were able to hear the majestic Pacific Ocean from our room. We celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary during this stay and was treated to a complimentary bottle of bubbly from the staff. Highly recommend The Inn at Lost Coast and the village of Shelter Cove. I loved our spa room. The sauna, the fireplace, and the jetted tub by the window to overlook the sunset were perfect for our weekend gateway!

Cute little inn if you want to get away from it all and walk on a black sand beach with 2 others on the beach. I highly recommend this for a get away!

Drive away from shelter cove
We needed a hotel after the lost coast hike. This one wasn’t the most cleanly, comfortable or welcoming. The hot tub was slimy and smelled like stinky feet. The sheets were not white and old. It was also over priced simply due to its location. Wouldn’t return.

I understand the price is much higher for the facility because of the location. But check-in wasn’t welcoming, the restaurant they touted on website wasn’t open, the view was ok. Big reclining chair positioned right in front of bathroom door was weird. 40min drive from main highway was not worth it for me.

The hotel’s dog friendly which is a plus for our road trips. The property is located right on the cliffs of the Pacific and staff was very helpful. The price tag was pretty steep however.

Remote with a view that can’t be matched!
We have stayed here before. It’s an older hotel with expansive views of the wild Lost Coast. The hotel is well maintained with recent upgrades. The staff are super friendly and will help you in any way they can. It’s remote, it’s quiet and it’s beautiful. For me, coming here is like coming home. I love it!

This place is stunning. Every room has an amazing view of the ocean, coastline and birds. We took a walk from the hotel and saw seals, sea lions and many species of birds and wildflowers.

I hope to return! The view and sounds of the ocean are breath taking! The little roads and pathways lead you to amazing sites. I have only positive thoughts about getting lost at the cove again.

Great views. There is a restaurant across the street. Hotel needs some update. Pet friendliness was a great plus for us. I would recommend that hotel puts some convenient seating outside to look at the great views. Hot tub was empty.

Exceptional retreat spot!
Exceptionally lovely room overlooking the coast with a dry sauna and jet tub in the room. Was greeted with joy and enthusiasm. The staff was wonderful and enjoyed the art reception and all the amenities in the room. It was a perfect retreat space! Only thing I would recommend would be to offer a fragrance free room for those of us with chemical sensitivities.

The view from our room was beautiful. The room itself needs some work. The shower head was on backwards, not enough towels, no floor mat, the toilet leaked and the kitchen area had not been swept. Overall, we came for the view and deck and enjoyed the area.

The views of the ocean are amazing, but I really don't understand the high reviews this place has received. The feel of the hotel was a cheap motel, and the interior of the rooms was the same and likely hasn't been updated since the 70s or 80s. The bed was old and you can literally feel all the springs, they use cheap chemicals to clean the hotel, the smell is terrible and I wanted to go run to a super 8 for a more comfortable room. Kitchenette is not what I would call this - an old microwave & mini fridge... next the head of the bed.

Balcony right at oceans edge was fantastic One night rotting fish smell made it impossible to sit and enjoy the large private deck. Smoking on balcony next to us made it difficult to breathe

My husbands brother died October 1 and him and I just wanted to get away! With the dogs! It was absolutely perfect! Ocean crashing against the waves all night long! Just beautiful would do it again in a heart beat!

Trip to get there may not be worth the experience
Not the Inn's fault but food options are very limited due to effect on local business which were limited before have gotten worse. Again not Inn's Fault but road is bad and shoulder has huge pot holes, be prepared for a rough ride on a very curvy road.
