« Séjour très confortable dans cet hôtel de grand standing, idéalement situé dans la ville puisqu'à proximité des principales attractions touristiques. La chambre est propre, bien agencée et spacieuse, le lit très confortable. Il y a du marbre partout, ce qui donne une certaine froideur au lieu mais aussi une grande élégance. Les employés sont toujours aux petits soins pour les client, j'ai apprécié. »

Nous y sommes restés 6 nuits et y revenions chaque fin d'après midi avec plaisir . Beau jardin en plein centre de Kolkata ou dîner le soir sur la pelouse est un enchantement. De plus la cuisine est excellente et les vins sont parfaits. Seul point négatif, le ronronnement de la climatisation. »

"Le lieu est parfait, le bâtiment aussi, il a un côté désuet qui reflète son âge. Il témoigne d'un pan de l'histoire de la ville et c'est en cela que ce lieu est attachant. On s'y sent bien. Il faut juste accepter un certain degré de vétusté qui n'est pas sans charme et le distingue de toutes les chaînes au décor plus ou moins identique. The Elgin Fairlawn a du caractère. La localisation m'a parue excellente et je me suis beaucoup déplacée à pied. Prendre son dîner dans le patio est un régal, d'autant que les plats sont vraiment bons. L'hôtel est calme bien que situé dans un question bouillonnant. J'ai quelques réserves sur la propreté. Le ménage est fait correctement, pas à redire, mais je suis une maniaque des recoins. Les rideaux de ma chambre auraient vraiment mérité un bon lavage. Il faut dire que la ville, en saison sèche, est extrêmement poussiéreuse. Ceci dit, je suis ravie de mon séjour et si je repasse par Calcutta, je reviendrai sans hésiter."
