10/10 Excellent

"We had a pleasant stay! The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and the hotel was conveniently located near the main sightseeing areas. The included breakfast had a decent variety of options, and the hotel felt very safe and secure. Overall, a great option for exploring the area!"

"Todo muy bien, excepto el desayuno del segundo día. Mi esposa pidió un chocolatín y al partirlo lo encontró lleno de una sustancia verde que nadie sabía que era. Nos paramos del restaurante y nos fuimos a otro lugar a desayunar. Fue un detalle muy molesto (y asqueroso), lo sentimos mucho porque en verdad, el resto fue excelente, la habitación, la ubicación, la amabilidad ele staff, la facilidad para estacionarse, la seguridad, etc.,"

8/10 Good

"Beautiful hotel with spacious gardens, restaurant, bar, two swimming pools and a gym. Also, (although we did not use it) ample parking space on the back. There are paintings and statues scattered around the hotel, so it is nice to walk around. My wife and I stayed at suite 627 for a week, the room was divided by the bathroom sink, with the first half having a desk with two seats and a jacuzzi. The second half had the bed, closet, small table with mini sofas, closet and the big (60 or 65 inch) TV. The main problem was that I could not work at the desk, as the AC was only active on the bed’s side. The other issue is that the windows could not be opened, so the only air circulation came from the two doors. I think someone decided to paint in the corridor, so there was no way of getting the smell out. There was an annoying sound from a machine (probably a cistern pump) that was annoying and very loud. Not all the time, but on and off day and night. The bed was comfortable and there were good pillows. The cleaning staff were very friendly and efficient. Pamela was asked to return after I finished working and she accommodated her schedule accordingly. I worked during the whole stay and did not have any issues with the wi-fi connection. The hotel’s front desk staff were friendly & helpful (especially Aaron), The back pool was very pleasant and had a great jacuzzi. The small gym had efficient workout machines, but the TV did not work. Small details would still return."

When is the best time to go to Santa María?

The best time to visit Santa María is during the dry season, which runs from November to April, for pleasant weather and clear skies.

During these months, you'll experience comfortable temperatures, typically ranging from 18°C to 25°C, with minimal rainfall. This makes it ideal for exploring the town's historical sites and the surrounding natural beauty without the interruption of heavy showers.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway will find this period superb for enjoying outdoor activities like hiking in the nearby Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve, which is at its peak from November to March. The cooler, dry air makes for comfortable walks and scenic views.

For families, the dry season offers excellent conditions for visiting local attractions such as the Bosencheve National Park, where you can enjoy picnics and nature walks without worrying about muddy trails. The clear evenings are also great for stargazing away from city lights.

While the wet season from May to October brings lush greenery and fewer crowds, it also means daily afternoon downpours and higher humidity.
