2 night Sandakan base
Very nice 3.5 star hotel, used as a base for 2 nights so only had breakfast which was ok. Pool was nice, AC in room was good but noisy

Whilst the property could do with a renovation, it’s clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The two restaurants on site have a wide range of local and international cuisines. The hotel is also in walking distance of the Sandakan Heritage Trail

You should discoun a room or price of laundry when a guest has a legitimate complaint like a blasting disco beat until 11 30 at night.

While this hotel is nice enough, the reality is that its 1.7km from the nearest eateries/shopping, and the facilities it offers in-house are sadly lacking. We went to breakfast at 9.30am on our first morning and there was hardly anything left. We blamed ourselves for being late, so went at 8.30am the following morning - same situation! The food was not replenished at all, however the serving spoons and their dishes were, even though the Bain Maries were empty! The pool is great but you are hard pushed to get any service at all. Cold drinks must be purchased from the upstairs cafe, which has limited opening hours. The staff were great, there is a money exchange facility (typically awful rate) however no tourist information available at all. I believe we were lucky to jag a renovated room on the 8th floor, but I wouldn't recommend the hotel, nor would I stay there again.

A lovely, comfortable hotel with spacious rooms. The staff is very friendly and willing to help in whatever you need. Good breakfast included and the hotel has a good Chinese restaurant.

Overcrowding with package tourists. Public areas almost inaccessible due to crowding. Smoking in guest rooms and outside obnoxious (despite signage). Overall, the hotel is dated and poorly managed.

The hotel itself was clean, nice pool area. The rooms could be improved, very basic, a lot of mould in the shower! One morning we didn’t get picked up for our tour which left us with nowhere to stay and no way of contacting the company, the staff were amazing, got us a room, made phone calls on our behalf ect..

This is a local hotel and as such can not be judged to the same standard as a Western 5* hotel and does not claim to be such. If you accept this fact then the hotel is fine. Staff are excellent. Food acceptable and facilities although a little tired are ok. You need a car to visit Sepilok and just to generally get about. Easy to find on the main road into town and has ample parking.
