"The staff was very nice and welcoming. The rooms were basic, but comfortable. There was entertainment going on outside and it sounded like the person singing was in our room. The structure didn't block outside nose very well."

"For the area of Sandakan that this hotel is in this is a pretty good option if you really have to stay here! I would not recommend the area at all. The staff here were very attentive and friendly. The room was adequate but the pillows were horrendous! Just lumpy lumps of hard sponge! The shower and sink use a pump system which was not smooth at all and you either had a ‘power’ shower or a trickle. The hotel is near the Central Market, Harbour Mall & the promenade plus local shops but don’t get too excited! "

"I found all the staff very helpful. The location is good for Orangutan, Sun Bears and the Rain Forest. The only elemwnt that was poor was I needed to amend my booking via Expedia and I still ended up being charged for one additional night, the cost was minimal, but that's not the point."

"Just needed an inexpensive Room for one night. This hotel fit the bill but it is an older property in a tropical place. When I turned the ab on (which I was tja kick for) a rather large Cockroach came flying out of the vent. I take these things in stride but others may not."

"The Sabah Hotel is a lovely hotel. Our twin room on the 6th floor was perfect with comfortable firm beds and was clean and spacious. Note: importantly the room has a fridge which is not all that common at other Sandakan hotels. The Buffet Breakfast was very good, especially the egg station and food was plentiful. The pool is nicely set in a tropical environment, yet it feels quite open and is of varying depths. There is a good outdoor jacuzzi within the pool area, two slides for kids and a more than adequate gym is close by to the pool area. The Plantation Cafe also served well priced dinners (in addition to breakfast), so there was no need to leave the hotel, except for day tours. An additional Chinese Restaurant is also onsite. We had a really good time. P.S. if you don't have a car, when on day tours pick-up any groceries you may need as it's a fair walk to the shops, but then again that's the beauty of the Sabah Hotel as it's located away from all the hussle and bussle."

"Close to the airport, but far enough not to hear the noise. Nice clean room. Bathroom needs some re-thinking. Shops and restaurants nearby. No elevator to the rooms. "

"Only that some chalets were quite a long walk uphill to get to them so you needed to be fit but otherwise a lovely place to stay and staff so helpful and couldn’t do enough for you "
