This trip to the Westin San Jose was great, really nice place. The shower was amazing, rainfall shower head and it got hot quickly. The staff is very helpful. But there are a few things they could do better on. 1 - This is such a fancy hotel, why do they skimp on their toilet paper? Most everything else was first class, but why use TP that I is worse than what you will find in the bathroom at a gas station. 2 - They don't tell you about pet fees and "mandatory" valet parking. The only reason it is needed is because there isn't really a choice as there are no other lots close by. The pet fee is $40 a night, the valet parking is $51 a night and the parking is offsite. I will give credit to their valet employees, they were quick to check us in and quick to retrieve your car. 3 - Another thing about going first class but then failed in an area would be their TV's in the rooms. There was no ability to access streaming services on them, they have Direct TV which sounded great, but they have the lowest selection of channels I would expect in a hotel as first class as this ones wants to be. We had a great stay, but these 3 items could use some attention, and Expedia could have added in the parking situation and the pet fee.

Loved the area. It seemed central to everything. Room was clean. A little small but it was perfect for us. The staff were friendly and really valued their customers while they stayed there. They make you sign a contract with the understanding that there are to be no parties, no loitering in the hallways, no excessive noise and if you are reported you will be removed from the property. It smells wonderful in the front lobby as well.

Typically stay at a property across the street from here and decided to try the Westin for a change. Upon checking in, I mentioned being a rewards member but my phone was cooperating and couldn’t pull up my number, the clerk told me to come back with it later. I guess it’s not something they could look up for me. The building is historic and I do realize there will be concessions given to staying in such a property, such as rooms typically being smaller that more modern properties. This was the case, our king room was definitely small in comparison to what we are accustomed to, but not a deal breaker. The Westin is known for their signature scent, which is the same at all locations. We love the scent and have candles in our own home. Unfortunately, upon entering our room, the Westin scent wasn’t what greeted us, rather it was the strong scent of marijuana, as if someone had been there shortly before our checkin. The room felt dingy and in need of maintenance. Toilet continuously ran, hot water tap peeled, hvac system was startlingly loud. The bed was pretty firm, linens were nice. The location is downtown and on a busy intersection, we listened to the sounds most of the night and made it difficult to sleep. Ultimately, we have no plans on returning to this property and will return to the property we typically stay at.

Really comfortable beds. The lobby area carpet definitely needs to be cleaned or replaced. Make sure to read their little waivers where you could be fined at their dis or kicked out.
