The best area to stay in Sam Bandit is the area surrounding the Ayutthaya Historical Park, particularly on the island formed by the Lopburi River, Pasak River, and Chao Phraya River.

This central area is the most convenient for exploring the ancient capital. It's home to the main historical sites, including Wat Mahathat with its famous Buddha head intertwined in tree roots, and Wat Phra Si Sanphet. The general layout is relatively compact, making it easy to get around by bicycle or tuk-tuk to visit the various temples and ruins. Many guesthouses and hotels are located along the roads close to the Ayutthaya Historical Park entrance.

For couples, staying within this central island offers the most romantic and convenient experience. You'll be within easy reach of the illuminated temples at night, ideal for evening strolls, and can enjoy riverside dining with views of the historical park. The area provides a relaxed base for exploring the rich history together.

Solo travellers will also find this central area ideal. Its concentration of attractions, dining options, and accommodation means you're never far from what you need.

The best time to go to Sam Bandit is during the cool and dry season, which runs from November to February.

During these months, the weather is most comfortable for exploring. You'll experience pleasant temperatures, typically ranging from 20°C to 30°C, with lower humidity and very little rain. This makes it ideal for visiting the outdoor historical parks and temples without the discomfort of intense heat or unexpected downpours. It's great for those who want to spend their days sightseeing and enjoying the local culture.

The shoulder seasons, March to May (hot season) and October (end of the rainy season), can also be good for travellers looking for fewer crowds and potentially better value on accommodation. While it will be hotter in March and May, and you might still catch some rain in October, these periods offer a different experience for those who don't mind the weather variations.
