The best time to go to Sainte-Croix is during the late spring (May to June) and early autumn (September to October) months. These periods offer pleasant weather, ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the Aveyron region without the peak summer crowds. You'll find warm, sunny days superb for outdoor activities, but without the intense heat that can sometimes characterise July and August. The countryside is particularly beautiful in spring with wildflowers, and in autumn with changing leaf colours and harvest festivals. If you're a couple looking for a peaceful getaway with opportunities for hiking and enjoying local cuisine, early autumn is particularly appealing. The grape harvest is often underway, and many local markets are brimming with fresh produce. The cooler evenings are superb for dining out or enjoying a glass of local wine.Travellers seeking a more active holiday, perhaps with cycling or kayaking, will find late spring excellent. The rivers are often at good levels for water sports, and the trails are well-maintained and less crowded.
