A wonderful stay in Rouen
The property was pretty much as described, and that's not a complaint. It was a charming apartment that was perfectly located to the historic district, as well as food, entertainment, etc. We enjoyed our stay, felt comfortable and safe and will likely consider it the next time we visit Rouen.

Here are the pros and cons
We enjoyed our stay in Rouen but thought it fair to set out the advantages and disadvantages of staying in this apartment. Pros: - It's a really good location, a short walk to the historic centre, and in a quiet neighbourhood, albeit busy road outside, (but double glazed so not noisy - There is A/C and as August temperatures in the upper 30s, we were glad of that - The kitchen was reasonably equipped, (see below) and the sitting room comfortably furnished - The building was originally quite a grand house and we enjoyed its character albeit now past its heyday - faded elegance says it all - There was easy parking outside (payable) - There is good wifi and despite previous comments we did not have any issues with internet provision. Cons: - the charges set out on the Homeaway site do not comprise the whole of the cost of the rental - cleaning fee and "linen" fee are additional. There is also a cash deposit to pay - there is also a potential charge for arriving outside the 5pm stated arrival time. We were arriving very late after docking at Dieppe at 10.30pm and we were asked to pay an additional fee to check in late – in spite of the advertised contact free check in. As a result of this we ended up staying somewhere else on the first night of our stay. - our experience with checking out was not good: on the day of departure we were due to leave at 9am but the housekeeper arrived early saying that she had to go to work, when we would have been entitled to stay until 12pm - the stated check out time. We felt this was rather rude and unhelpful - after making an inspection of the property before returning our deposit the housekeeper said that we needed to dry and put away the washing up. Given the absence of tea towel, washing up liquid and dishwasher this was quite difficult and rather annoying. The house description needs updating as it currently says that there is a dishwasher. - the overall welcome was diminished by there being no soap and less than half a roll of toilet paper.

Poor internet in lovely setting
If you need fast and reliable internet, this apartment may not be a good fit. During our 28 day stay we had internet for less than 50% of our time there-very slow WiFi for 4 days, connection with an Ethernet cable (which we had to buy) for 5 days and finally had good WiFi for the last 5 days of our stay. Since we had to work, this was both inconvenient and expensive, as we had to use cell data. Past guests (at least 5) have mentioned the internet issues, which appear to be problems with the provider. In addition, we had to pay extra when we requested someone come to help; the owner informed us “This is not a hotel”. If you are visiting Rouen for short holiday, however, the apartment is a lovely 19th century Belle Époque residence with an attractive patio. The furniture is comfortable and the art on the walls is charming. The kitchen is fine; the refrigerator and the cook top are modern while the cookware and dishes are adequate. The apartment, as advertised, is about a 10 minute walk to historic center of Rouen.

Perfect proportions in this grand apartment. Very elegant and tasteful. Centrally located
The property is unlike any other available for a similar price in central Rouen. I grew to love this city and will surely return. I hope Chantal would welcome me in her apartment again. It is very stylish, has a slight faded elegance about it (I mean this in a respectful way). It isn’t up to the minute modernised, but that is why it is charming. There were some elements that I imagine some people might be concerned about, but for me, I can overlook them. The entrance off of the street is very secure as there are several doors to get through - the locks were a bit tricky (watch out for catching your fingers on the main door) but once mastered, it was easy. The staircase to the 1st floor is elegant and shallow so it is easy to climb with heavy cases. Beautiful spacious and interconnecting rooms were charming. The kitchen, was a bit of a low point. I actually spoke to Chantal and she was very understanding. It needs updating and crockery to be replaced. Only one pan seemed to work on the induction hob and both dishwasher and washing machine are no longer supplied as operating which is a shame as washing up in the single sink wasn’t easy and seeing as the kitchen had access to the roof terrace, it would be where I would have loved to have prepared some of the wonderful produce available from the stunning market nearby. The bathroom was a bit old fashioned but it was clean and everything worked, so it didn’t bother me at all. The beds in the main room are two singles pushed together. I didn’t mind that at all but I can see that for some people this may be a problem. The bed linen supplied was of fair quality but the towels supplied were a bit thin and small and I also mentioned to Chantal that one tea towel per stay wasn’t enough (especially with no washing machine!). I still love the place and would definitely return. It reminded me of my home in London with similar architecture and it was very cosy. We went at the end of August when the temperature was perfect, so we had no need to cool or heat the place. There was plenty of good seating and sockets everywhere to charge our phones or use hairdryers. We were allowed to take our small dog who settled in very well. If you are looking for total perfection, this place may not be for you. Personally, I loved it. A word about parking- I downloaded the app written on the meter, and paid 4.8 Euros per day. It’s not easy to decipher the tariff, but that was what I paid. Underground parking nearby as well

a bit more expensive than it us advertised
I was not too happy to be charged extra for the use of towels and sheets. The location and apt are nice, though it seems too business oriented and a bit cold as far as this kind of vacationing goes.

Average
Characteristic of buildings of the age but kitchen updating not well built. There was no extra toilet paper, only one kitchen towel and no detergent for the washer. Had to buy all.

Apartment with character & great location
This apartment was lovely, very spacious & in a great location to visit Rouen. Wifi connection was good. One thing I will mention - we stayed here for 10 weeks and payed a cleaning fee of 25 euros a week. The apartment was kept clean but we never got a change of bed sheets & no spare sheets so we couldn't wash them ourselves & it rains a lot in Normandy hard to dry them in a day. We had 1 change of towels in that period. I feel this could be improved. Also it was summer & there were some quite warm days & although there was air conditioners in every room we were not given a remote to turn any on. Other than this all was really good & we were satisfied with our stay.

Beautiful flat, good location, but has problems
We spent 11 days at this lovely flat in a perfect location in Rouen. There is a secret garden off the kitchen and bedroom, including a canopy where we enjoyed having a glass of wine, even during a light rain. However, for an eleven day stay we were each provided with ONE towel, though an additional "linen fee" was added to our rent. There is a washing machine, but no dryer, so waiting for a towel to air dry was not feasible. We had to purchase extra towels. And forget the Wifi! It was promised, but did not happen. We were given a password by the property manager, who speaks no English. It did not work. So we called the owner. She said the password could be found on the black box under the TV. No such thing. She told us we were The ONLY ONES who could not find it on the black box! Then later she sent the manager by to show us a THIRD password taped to the wall in the kitchen that was over 30 characters! It also did not work. Then we gave up. I felt that calling the owner again would be an exercise in futility and we had a full schedule. Additionally, we were provided one partial role of toilet tissue and one partial bar of soap with someone's pubic hair on it. By the time we were allowed access to the flat, we were too tired to think, having been up for over 35 hours. But the next morning, our first priority was to run out and find a store for bathroom tissue and soap. Just a tiny bit more consideration for the renter would go a long way here. Perhaps a fresh bar of soap? Maybe an extra roll of toilet tissue? For a stay as long as ours, maybe and extra towel per person? Still, I would recommend this flat. It is LOVELY with beautiful windows looking onto a tree-lined street. It's secret garden led to a whole new dimension of our enjoyment of the beautiful city of Rouen. The flat has gorgeous fireplaces and is tastefully, comfortably furnished. And it is very clean. It was so relaxing, charming, and peaceful to come back here after our tourist excursions. Just be sure to pack extra towels, toilet paper and your own soap. And go to the tourist office to use the Internet.
