The cottage features a sunny, terracotta tiled, south facing private terrace and private garden, with astonishing panoramic views of The Pyrenees. The comfortable cottage profits from a peaceful & quiet countryside setting with stunning views of the famous Montsegur castle, located just 15km down the valley. For lazy days, relaxing seating is provided on the terrace. For al fresco dining, a small table and chairs can be found in the garden, and a BBQ is available at the property. THE NEIGHBOURHOOD The cottage is located less than 5 minutes walk from the splendid village of Roquefixade with its well known Cathar chateau, church and fountain. There are an abundance of fabulous walking trails accessible directly from the property, and a lovely restaurant / bar in the village where guests can enjoy fresh, seasonal home cooked French cuisine, beer, wine and coffee. With a car ride, guests can access more advanced trekking, climbing, cave tours, karting, wakeboarding, stunning lakes, tax free shopping in Andorra, and so much more. Organic and traditional supermarkets, restaurants, weekly markets and a multitude of cultural events can be found in the nearby town of Foix, approximately 15-20mins by car from the property. Foix castle (16km) sits proudly above the town, beautiful to regard from the market square by day with a cappuccino, or illuminated colourfully by night with a glass of wine. THE SPACE The tastefully decorated cottage is a fully-furnished, self-contained building with a large open plan kitchen / dining / living room area, separate bedroom, bathroom and utility room. Recently refurbished, well insulated, warm and comfortable. Guests wake up to the sound of birds singing and staggering views of the full mountain range. Quality towels and bed linen are provided as well as a full range of toiletries, including shampoo, conditioner and body wash. A hairdryer, iron and ironing board are also provided. Guests who enjoy cooking enjoy a fully equipped kitchen with fridge, oven, cooking hob and microwave. A good selection of utensils, pots and pans, salt, pepper herbs and spices are provided. GUEST ACCESS The cottage is on the grounds of the hosts’ house, and the driveway is shared. However, guests are not overlooked and enjoy complete privacy at the property. The accommodation features a private entrance and secure key box for a smooth check in experience. Toulouse & Carcassonne Airports are easily accessed, both approximately 1hr 15min drive from the property. Endroit reposant et ressourçant, avec les Pyrénées en face de vous du lever du soleil jusqu’au coucher. Le rêve! De là, nous avons pu visiter tous les beaux sites de l’Ariège et faire quelques balades des alentours. Le propriétaire est aimable, discret et très réactif à toute demande. Nous recommandons chaudement cette location. Nous-mêmes n’hésiterons pas à y revenir si cela se présente. We had a great stay in this pleasant house full of charm, comfortable and superbly located! Quiet place with the Pyrenees mountains in front of you from the morning till dusk! The dream! From there, we were able to visit all the beautiful scenic spots of Ariège and take many walks in the nearby surroundings. The owner is friendly, discreet and very responsive to any request. His conversion of this little barn has created a spacious and thoughtfully converted interior. The kitchen area is well-equipped, the sofa welcoming and the underfloor heating a bonus on cooler days. The bedroom is comfortable and roomy, the bathroom with a walk-in shower completing the picture. And all this looks out over a view of the Pyrenees that had us captivated. We spent hours watching the sun come up, the clouds passing and the red kites circling overhead and even had the delight of seeing the first snow of the season settling on highest peaks. The ancient town of Foix was but a short drive away and we loved taking the higher more scenic route which provided sweeping views of the valley floor and the mountainscape behind. Tom was a generous and responsive host, checking we had everything we needed and patiently answering our questions. We simply could not love this place more and are planning our next visit. ##### Susan T. The Restoration Place had an excellent kitchen and dining area, a super-comfy bed and - oh what bliss - a rain shower. It was also spotlessly clean. Exquisite cottage with great patio for enjoying stunning views of Montsegur and the Pyrenees. Located in a pastoral setting, the cottage is thoughtfully designed, well finished, and comfortably furnished. It was equipped with everything we needed. Restaurants, bakeries, and provisions, including specialty bio markets and farm markets, are available in nearby Foix and Lavelanet. A short walk up the hill you'll find Roquefixade village, which offers an exceptional network of hiking trails to the Roquefixade Chateau ruins, ancient Dolmens, and overlooks with 360 degree views of the region. A short drive away, you'll find Foix, Montsegur, the Niaux cave, the Cascade de Roquefort, and many more attractions. There is an incredible concentration of breathtaking scenery and history here. The cottage was ideal for us, and the host was gracious and welcoming. Thank you, Tom for your hospitality! ##### Mark M.
