Belsize Cottage, Upper Rideau Lake

  • Belsize Cottage is a spacious, family-friendly retreat on the shores of Upper Rideau Lake in Newboro, Ontario. Enjoy great swimming and stunning sunset views over the lake. Minutes from the charming village of Newboro and 10 minutes to Westport by car or boat. The cottage features five bedrooms, a full kitchen, one and a half bathrooms, two kayaks, and a fire pit—perfect for relaxing, exploring, and making lasting memories.
    Note: guests are asked to bring linens and towels.

    Due to our cleaners' schedules, we set Saturday as the check-in and check-out day. Rentals are Saturday to Saturday.

Overall, the cottage is wonderful. The layout is great. The water is amazing for swimming, The host, Peter, was very responsive to questions and concerns. The kitchen is well equipped. The screened in porch is great for dinners and evening board games. Sunsets are amazing!The only substantive issue is that lighting is sparse. There aren't enough lamps / lights in the living area so reading, doing a jigsaw puzzle or other activities needing light aren't really possible once dusk falls. Also, apart from one, the lamps beside beds aren't good for reading so best to bring book lights or small reading lamps if you want to read before bed. There are very few plugs so it would also help to bring a few power bars.Despite these small issues, we had an amazing week and would highly recommend this property.
