"This is a B&B in an apartment building, not an actual hotel, so that was a surprise. It's also several blocks walk away from the centro storico of Tropea, so the surrounding area is full of busy apartments and streets that are distinctly uncharming. "This is a lovely property. Our air conditioner did not work and they moved us to an upgraded room for the last 2 nights. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was fresh and delicious. Our room was clean and the view was beautiful of the sea, though further away than we thought. A few cons. There is no beach access here at all.Some of the descriptions are misleading. You cannot walk into town or to the beach on the very busy roads, it’s a long walk and dangerous. We were able to Uber back and forth without any issues. There is no spa but the pool is beautiful. The service at the pool is understaffed. Were were there in mid May off season. We were told they were open from 11-7 but when we asked for service for coffee at 12:15p we were told they didn’t open until 12:30 and no one came until 12:45p. One night we didn’t feel well and wanted to order in but no one could help us with that. We We found an app and ordered only for it to be cancelled after 25 minutes. There is no one at the reception desk available after 9 pm. I would hope in the future to see a little more available in the reception area like snacks and coffee. A shuttle to and from town/beach would also be appreciated. There is a lot of potential for this property and Tropea is stunning and still untouched by Americans (which we are) and annoying crowds so go now if you can. "

"We had a good time here, but this property has the potential to be so much more. Location is prime and the views are absolutely stunning. The hotel is definitely dated and ready for a renovation. Rooms and bathrooms are showing their age and so are the beds, linen and towels. Front desk and transportation staff go through the motions and can use refresher customer service training. They seem to be complacent and happy to host tour groups and just do enough to get by. The shuttle to the beach never seemed to be available. The driver had to go downtown, recharge the golf cart, pick up people, or do something else. The few times we asked, the answer was always negative and there was not even any attempt to apologize for the service not being available in a timely fashion. We drover our car down to the beach next door, but never set foot on the hotel beach. The restaurant staff was much nicer and helpful. Food variety was very good. Food quality was what you can expect from a hotel buffet. Some good, some bad, none really excellent, but mostly adequate. The view and the hotel grounds made up for the deficiencies, but management and the ownership group can make lots of improvements and upgrade this property to a much higher level that maximizes its prime location. Don't forget to visit the Tropea historic center and the beaches. Tropea was supposed to be a pit stop on our trip and became a highlight. It is a beautiful town with friendly people and lovely beaches. "
