"Nice Hotel I want to rate the hotel 5 stars because it achieves what it is trying to. The staff was great. Food at dinner was great and people are very kind. Breakfast was great too. But I feel they missed on what the place could be. It is a mix of historic and modern industrial. The rooms are nice but generic with higher quality Ikea type furniture. I don't feel any connection to on to the past. But like I said if you want a nice hotel then you'll be happy here. "

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Retznei?
The best area to stay in Retznei is directly within the village centre, particularly around the main street, Retzneier Straße.

This area provides easy access to the local vineyards and the Mur River, offering a true taste of the Styrian wine region. You'll find a selection of guesthouses and traditional taverns (Buschenschanken) located amongst the rolling hills. It's a compact and pleasant area, great for those seeking a relaxed escape.

Couples will find Retznei village centre particularly appealing. The quiet lanes and scenic views create a romantic setting, and many local eateries offer wine tastings and regional specialities, ideal for enjoying an evening together.

For solo travellers looking for a peaceful retreat and an opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the region at their own pace, staying in the village centre is also an excellent option.
When is the best time to go to Retznei?

Late spring offers mild temperatures, making it ideal for exploring the rolling hills and vineyards on foot or by bicycle. The landscape is lush and green, and many of the local wine taverns (Buschenschanken) are open, offering fresh regional produce and new wines. It's a lovely time for couples to enjoy scenic drives and outdoor activities without the peak summer crowds.

Early autumn is another fantastic period, especially for those interested in the grape harvest. The weather remains agreeable, and the vineyards are a beautiful golden hue. This season often features various wine festivals and events, providing a deeper insight into the region's winemaking traditions.
