The best area to stay in Regkini is the central waterfront area, particularly around Platia Syntagmatos (Constitution Square) and extending along Akti Miaouli.

This area is the heart of Regkini's activity, offering a bustling yet convenient base for exploring. It's characterised by its wide promenade, lined with cafes, tavernas, and shops, all with views of the harbour. The historic Clock Tower is a prominent landmark here, and the main ferry terminal is easily accessible from this stretch.

For couples, this central waterfront area is ideal. You'll find a wide selection of hotels, from boutique options with sea views to larger establishments. The evenings offer plenty of opportunities for a romantic dinner by the sea or a stroll along the illuminated promenade. It's also very convenient for day trips to nearby islands, with ferries departing regularly from the harbour.

Families will also find the central waterfront area very practical. Many hotels offer family-friendly amenities, and the flat promenade is superb for pushchairs or children on scooters. There are often small playgrounds nearby, and the ease of access to restaurants means mealtimes are straightforward.

The best time to go to Regkini is during the late spring (May to early June) and early autumn (September to early October) when the weather is pleasant for outdoor activities.

During these months, the temperatures are comfortably warm, typically ranging from 20-28°C, making it ideal for exploring the natural beauty and archaeological sites without the intense heat of mid-summer. The sea is also warm enough for swimming, and the crowds are generally smaller than during the peak summer season. This period offers a good balance of good weather and fewer tourists, ensuring a more relaxed experience.

For those who enjoy water sports and swimming, the summer months of July and August offer the warmest sea temperatures, often exceeding 25°C. However, this is also the busiest time, with more visitors and higher temperatures, which can reach over 35°C. If you plan to visit during this period, booking your accommodation and activities well in advance is advisable.
