"I’m extremely disappointed with my experience with this Hyatt property. I booked a room for March 6 but cancelled the reservation within about an hour after learning that my international travel plans had changed due to a major disruption overseas. A Hyatt representative even sent a waiver to the front desk confirming the charge should be waived. Despite cancelling immediately and never checking in or using the room, I was still charged. When I contacted the hotel, the manager refused to review the situation and stated that because the hotel was fully booked that night, a refund would not be issued. This was very frustrating, especially given the circumstances and the waiver that had already been sent. I have since escalated the issue to Hyatt corporate and hope they will resolve it fairly. I expected better customer service and understanding from a brand like Hyatt."

"The hotel has 3 guest elevators and 1 service elevator designated for staff only. During my stay, 2 of the guest elevators were out of service, leaving only 1 operational guest elevator and the service elevator temporarily available for guest use. This information was not communicated prior to check-in. Waiting up to 20 minutes just to get on an elevator is completely unacceptable, especially for a hotel of this size. To make matters worse, the one remaining guest elevator eventually became inoperable as well. Guests were stuck inside and had to pry the doors open to get out. This created a very frustrating and concerning experience for everyone staying at the hotel. Proper communication and maintenance of essential amenities like elevators should be a priority."

"Conveniently located relative to the airport-just 10 minutes away. When I called for the airport shuttle, the receptionist informed us it would pick us up in a few minutes. It arrived after 30 minutes. The driver was helpful but we were frustrated by the expectation not being accurately set by the receptionist. The bathroom had unsightly water damage to the doors and a damp and musty smell."

"For over a decade, staying at Salamander Middleburg was on my bucket list. As a young professional, I always heard raving reviews but felt priced out. So when a friend and I finally secured a Presidents Day weekend stay around $600 per night, we were excited for a true luxury experience. Unfortunately, the value simply was not there. One of the biggest surprises was how little is actually included for guests. Spa treatments cost $195–$365, and even then you only get two hours of access to amenities afterward — with no guest discounts or privileges. Most other activities on property are similarly expensive, leaving very little to do unless you spend hundreds more. We ended up leaving the resort to go to a nearby spa, where we enjoyed full services and lunch for under $120. The arrival experience was even more disappointing. We drove in during the rain to no greeting, no valet, no help with luggage, and no clear signage for check-in. At the desk, we waited without acknowledgment while the lone staff member worked on other tasks. When we were finally assisted, our room wasn’t ready, resulting in a one-hour wait with no apology or offer of refreshments. The room itself was comfortable but unremarkable. To their credit, customer service later apologized and offered breakfast, wine and late check out. Still, for $600+ per night, the service and overall experience did not match the luxury reputation."
