The property is beautiful. The sunsets were amazing. The location is a bit isolated. You have to drive to shops and stores. The room itself was very nice but the door to the lock off doesn’t keep noise out.

Would definitely recommend
Really enjoyed my stay here. The property is really beautiful. They have an amazing beach for snorkeling. The room feels slightly dated but the view from the balcony makes up for it. The location of the room is at the end of the property but we didn’t mind the walk and they also provided free pickup and drop off service.

Would 100% stay here again, only issue was the listing was a tad misleading as it indicated they’re was a kitchen but there was only a mini fridge. If you can get over that, fairly priced and awesome location.

Entering unit, it was a strong moldy and musty odor. It permeated bedding. Opening doors and turning on A/C did little to help. A little exploring and we found mold spores in A/C and mold growing on headboard of bed. Notified rental agency immediately, but they took 14 hours to get back to us. We couldn't sleep well and were concerned about health risk to my wife who has asthma. Agency ignored our complaints, had no solution other than 1 night free. We still had to pay fees, and find another cleaner accomodation. Very disappointing.

Great stay at HBR!
We had a wonderful stay at HBR. It was nice to have a mini fridge with a top freezer area and a blender in the condo. The unit itself was not very clean (many many dead bugs all over the windows and ground), and dirty dishes when we arrived, but otherwise nice stay with great amenities and responsive hosts.

Slice of paradise
This lock off unit is perfect for couples. Unit has a beautiful view of Hanalei bay. We spent many nights watching the sunset from the lanai. The property is beautiful and lush and perfectly located. We would definitely stay here again in the future!

The grounds of the Hanalei Bay resort were beautiful. The views were great as well as the pool, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The check in fees were steep and the unit itself was extremely dated. In need fo renovations and new furniture especially for the nightly price. The pictures are misleading. Also the unit was not entirely clean and the headboard had a smell that resembled the smell of urine. Would not book again

Perfect Vacation Spot
My husband and I had a great time at the Hanalei Bay Resort! Perfectly located in Princeville, all of the sights and restaurants that we wanted to go to on the north shore were only a short drive away. We also watched the most amazing sunset while staying in this unit!

There was NO kitchen. Even using the term kitchenette was BS
There were five other people staying at Hanalei Bay Resorts who also got screwed by the lock out units. Vacation Realty of Hawaii (Stephanie in that office) confirmed that morning of our check in that there was a full kitchen and laundry in the unit. We purchased $200 in groceries. There wasn't anything to cook with at the grills downstairs and a tiny fridge was all we had. The coffee maker was missing a top so that didn't work. And using a bathroom sink as the only sink...The AC didn't work and the nasty manager at Vacation Realty Hawaii was so unpleasant that we chose to not have anymore interaction with that company. This all reflects poorly on VRBO. I will never book anything through VRBO in the future.

Great view and property
The place was perfect for a week getaway. The view from the balcony was beautiful and the property had way more amenities than we expected. The room also came with beach chairs and snorkeling gear which was a plus.

Despite the annoying sounds the chickens constantly make at all hours of the day and night, and the 2 AM party next door, we loved it and would come again! The room and accommodations were perfect and as described. Thanks:)

Great place to stay and the property had several amenities including a great pool area! The unit itself was far from the parking lot and very far from beach access, both paths were pretty steep. We found out after we took all our luggage to the unit and after we walked all the way down to the beach that you can call golf carts to drive you around the property. Once we figured that out it was smooth sailing.

Beautiful Sunset Views at a Charming Resort
Views from the lanai of Hanalei Bay and Bali Hai are exceptional. The unit itself is a little outdated and could use a little love but it’s totally fine. The resort has a bit of an old-school field and I say that in the best way… We really like this place and would go back. The pool is exceptional

Beautiful location but disappointing unit
The unit was not clean at all and I have sort of a pet peeve for that - bugs and cobwebs everywhere the balcony had not been cleaned in forever. Which is unfortunate as you’d like to hang out there. It looked like their was mold in the bathroom. The unit does not have any help from the front desk since it’s privately owned and this no fault at all to the owner but good to know that there is an endangered bird nesting under the entrance and the male duck attacks anyone that walks by.

Wonderful stay
That unit is the very last unit on the property and is furthest from everything, however, that is what made it ideal for us. It was a hike to get to the parking lot and pool, but it was secluded and away from noise. Beautiful views. The carpet is very dated and dirty in places, but it didn't bother us. The gift basket was very nice and the unit had all the essentials for two people. Would definitely stay again.

The location was beyond perfect! The room did smell pretty musty, and the carpet is in poor condition. There also weren’t trash bags provided. The balcony has amazing views, and the resort grounds as a whole were pleasant. The beach is phenomenal! I would definitely stay at this resort again, but I would look into different room options.

Short stay in paradise
Our rental experience was great. The process was very easy from booking to arrival. A lot of great communication. The view from the lanai is stunning. Condo is comfortable and we appreciated having the beach chairs available. Nice welcome treats too. Thank you! The one caveat I will add and it’s really not terrible is that this condo is located at the very end of the property so it’s a bit of a hike up to the main area of the resort. Not a problem if you’re truly on Hawaii time, but you’ll definitely get your workout! There are golf carts available 24/7 so you don’t have to walk every time, but it requires making a phone call and a tip, of course! Again, not a big deal. It’s about an 8 min walk to the lobby and parking lot. Good for the glutes!

Great Resort, Terrible Room
You walk into this studio apartment and see a gorgeous backdrop… then get hit with a dingy and moldy smell permeating from the carpet and condo. Carpet had stains and feels like it has ten years of dust on it. Our bedsheets had hair and numerous small stains on them. Also our towels had stains on every single one. We contacted the property manager and she replied within the day but couldn’t get us clean items until the NEXT DAY… so we put a blanket over the sheets and slept on top. I assume this happens a lot because there is a sign in the room saying “they have the right to fix cleaning issues”. Overall the resort and view is what you are paying for. Condo is gross and not clean!

HBR has amazing views, but it is an older resort. People unfamiliar with the tropical humidity may be more sensitive to the smells that can result from the climate. This condo is thoroughly cleaned after each guest and deep cleaned often; sheets and towels are washed and disinfected. We found no stains on any of the towels or linens, after meeting with the guest who could not identify the stains. We do ask that guests contact us immediately upon arrival so we have an opportunity to correct or make our guests more comfortable.

Nice room with a nice view. A couple of small complaints about the resort. The location is a little ways out of the way. The parking is pretty limited and only one small restaurant is open in the resort (they said the main reastaurant was reopening soon after about 10 years), and many people staying in the neighboring area come to eat here so they use up the parking and there is always a wait at the restaurant that is also open limited hours. My only complaint directly related to the room is that there are signs on the units owned by this company asking to leave your shoes outside. I did so, and in the process of being in our room for about ten minutes my $100 sandals were stolen. We were 99% sure it was a man that was a contracted cleaner for a different unit, owned by someone else, but the resort wasn't really any help in finding out who stole them.

Beautiful Kauai
This is our fifth stay at Hanalei Bay Resort but our first in this unit. Everything was perfect from communication with hosts, the room and amenities. They had a wonderful gift box for us as well which came in very handy. If it's your first time visiting Kauai or returning to paradise this is a perfect spot for you.

Amazing location
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed staying here. Hanalei Bay is truly a stunning place and you get an amazing view from the room and lanai. You can even hear the roar of distant big ocean waves (guessing probably not in summer when they’re less big). The room was like a large hotel room, and had a very comfy bed and large high pressure shower. We ate out and didn’t really use the fridge/utensils or beach things for our 2 night stay, so won’t comment on that. Resort is lovely, but just to state what others have: there is a long uphill walk from the condo to the parking lot. The resort offered us a bellman to drive us and our things when we arrived; we just tipped him. I’m not sure I would agree the cancellation policy is super flexible as listed in the title, but it’s clearly described in the listing. Also, there are extra resort and parking fees you pay at check-in to the resort, also described in the listing. They gave us a nice welcome basket with chocolate covered Mauna Loa macadamias, cookies, coffee, and a bottle opener, so that was nice! Overall, we loved our stay and the location and view will probably bring us back.

Please do take advantage of the ride provided by the bellman to the condo. The path uphill is what contributes to the stunning views of Hanalei!

Amazing Lowkey Location!
We were here for 4 days on our honeymoon. This location was perfect. Right down the street (short drive) from grocery store, boutiques, and amazing local eats. We ventured outside of the north shore a few times, but we agreed no part of the island beats the north shore. We were also close to multiple beaches - good for snorkeling, swimming, etc. We loved every second. The grounds at HBR are beautiful. We didn’t use the pool or tennis courts but many other guests seemed to enjoy them! The staff at HBR was also very attentive. The view from the balcony is gorgeous, the room was clean, and we had everything we needed. We would absolutely stay here again.

Hanalei bay resort is aesthetically beautiful. The staff is friendly the grounds and views exquisite. The food at the restaurant was excellent tho not too wide a menu. Our room had a corner lanai on the edge of the property and felt very private.

Room has most essentials, however, we would have liked some pots and pans due to the full kitchen that is available near the secondary pool area where the grills are. We enjoyed the property, the views of Hanalei Bay and the mountains were spectacular. Unit is sufficient with a nice clean bathroom/ shower. No real breakfast/lunch options on property and no stove so plan to venture out for food.

Great view and condo
The view is amazing and the facilities at the resort are wonderful. Things to keep in mind are that the place doesn't have any microwave. There is a minifridge and simple things for cutting or making tea/coffee are available. For longer stays this might not be ideal. Our family was nearby in a bigger condo, so we tended to gather there for meals if we didn't eat out. Parking fees and resort fees are not included and will be about 28 more per day.
