I can't say enough good things about this hotel. Location, service and amenities were all fantastic. Within walking distance to all the sites of Old Porto but close enough to the ocean. Breakfast was top shelf as well!!

We stayed two nights here for our trip to Porto and were pleasantly surprised! The hotel is located south of Palacio de Cristal, a great location along the Douro River and a 20-30 minute walk along the water to reach the Luis Bridge and cross over to Gaia. We opted in for the breakfast and it was a great option in the morning when you have a full day ahead planned. The staff were friendly and very helpful. There is a ā€œclubā€ that was operating (Saturday night) to the right of the hotel, but closed by 11pm (staff were helpful when relaying this information). We look forward to staying here again!

Our room was a river facing room. The hotel had unique artwork everywhere and an offered a great breakfast. Our room was spacious, the staff was lovely and helpful. About 15 minute walk into the thick of the city.

Amazing

Porto was a brief stop on my way to walk the Camino. Vila Gale was a wonderful and unique hotel. The room was comfy and modern at the same time. The rooms are also themed which add an additional dimension. The staff very friendly and breakfast was utterly delicious!

Absolutely nothing wrong with the hotel, good value and helpful, staff were quiet good, in fact. Food was very average and the area a bit suspect. I was told not to leave anything valuable in the car which was left out the hotel overnight. The rating would be higher if I had not been there with a car.

The hotel is quite a long walk to the main Ribera area, about a 20 minute walk for the fit person. The room was good but there was no hospitality tray (Tea/coffee etc). You had to ask for a kettle or a coffee pod machine, and I only found out about this by looking on the online information. However, when we visited there were no coffee pods in stock. Otherwise it is a very nice hotel with mainly friendly staff especially in the Reception area. The bar staff were not overly helpful. The breakfast was excellent with loads of choice of food and nice staff. There are some excellent restaurants very close by, away from the tourist areas.

We liked that it is by the river. Our room had a view of the courtyard and we were gone for the majority of the day so view not important but it was nice if using dining area. The breakfast was adequate but they need to have coffee out all day since there is no coffee maker in rooms. One night they were busy in the dining room and the front desk person was working in the restaurant so has to wait to speak to her...they seemed to be short on employees but maybe they were just busier than usual in the restaurant that night. Our room was a good size, comfortable beds, efficient air conditioning when working. Plenty of hot water and good water pressure. Our last night it wasn't working but within 20 minutes the problem was resolved. The shower door leaked but we just put extra towels down to soak up and let staff know when we checked out. Staff were all nice and helpful. We had a very early departure on last day and they arranged a taxi for us and had breakfast boxes for us. The taxi driver was on time, professional and reasonably priced. It's only a 10-15 walk to all the action downtown. Overall, a nice place to stay at a good location.
