Convenient location in the heat of Biddeford Pool
A comfortable home with a water view. Just steps away from Goldthwaits store and an easy walk to the beach. Anne is an accommodating hostess. Looking forward to returning next summer.

Maine Getaway
We had a great week. The property owner was terrific and really cared that we enjoyed our stay in her property. Our airline lost our luggage and she was really supportive and helpful while we sorted it out with the airline. Her property is extremely well cared for, well stocked with kitchen supplies, pretty views of the harbor and a clutch location in the little town … Easy and short walk to beach, coast and town. Thank you very much for a great stay.

Lovely Spot on the Coast
Anne's place was fantastic. A beautiful view of the water, comfortable beds and seating, great light, and lovely plants and landscaping inside and out. I also liked how many books there were to learn about Maine and all the wildlife we might see! We didn't get a chance to check out the private beach but the larger one is just about a 10 minute walk and is wonderful.

Beautiful cottage is a hidden gem in Biddeford Pool, Maine!!
Fantastic location, easy access to sandy beaches as well as wave beaten rocky shores, fully equipped home and kitchen, with super helpful owner on site. Local grocery store just two blocks away offers fresh lobster, a great wine selection, and even WSJ and NYT. Flat and uncongested roads allow long bike rides along the shores toward Kennebunk Port. This house is truly a "home" and is lovingly cared for, and it shows! We'll stay here again next year!

Lovely home in beach town
The house was exactly as described. It was spotless and extremely well stocked. The beds and furniture were all very comfortable. We enjoyed the yard where our granddaughter came to play and it was a short walk to a beautiful beach. Just a few doors down is a take out/or picnic table place to get fresh lobster or other delicious meals. The major market is about 20 min away. Anne, the owner, lives upstairs and is very friendly and available but not intrusive. She went out of her way to be sure we had absolutely everything we needed but other than her tending to the garden, she leaves the grounds to her guests. We had a great time!

The Eye of Sauron
If you wish to experience what it was like to live in George Orwell's "1984" , then rent this cottage. First and foremost. This is an owner occupied rental unit. as apposed to being the 48/48th picture. it should be bold print, highlighted. posterized. this lady lives above you and basically watches everything you do. Arguably the least inviting, and private experience i have had on a vacation. During our stay, we found two surveillance cameras inside the unit. one, was placed on the inside front stairwell, ascending the stairs to her unit on about the 5th step. it faced the door so every time you walked inside you got hit with a spotlight. the second, was on the table by the window mixed in with the plants. out looking the back deck. neither of these were disclosed upon our entry. she called and complained to the parking cop because my car was parked horizontally at the end of the driveway so i could unload after the beach. it was a 40 ticket. to be in the driveway, of the house i spent two thousand dollars on. the parking officer literally said, and i quote " someone" called to complain about your car. i wonder who that could be Anne? This home owner entered the unit at least three times while we were not home. one time to close the windows becuase of the potential forecast, even though i had expressed i would be home in less that 5 mins. she went in anyways. the other , unannounced. my partner was showering and she heard the door open and someone say hello. she enters through the utility room door to pick up towels after we leave the house ? why even rent your home if you are going to invade on someones privacy. threatened to evict my family because tobacco smoke was entering her bedroom window. not realizing my family was asleep and there was a family of 7 outside, on their porch, smoking cigarettes. referred to me as "dude" multiple times on the vrbo chat app. if you would like to be spyed on while you are on vacation. rent this unit. the area is beautiful, my family and i have rented for over 25 years in that area, never again, will anne basset be a name we recommend for any traveler. she should be removed from vrbo immediately.. in fact i already have a claim filed.

Robert is a troubled guy. He first contacted me panicked if MA residents could still rent in ME with CV-19 ( yes, with restrictions.) Never complied with restrictions. He declared himself a solo traveler.. Asked for price break. I agreed. Turns out to be a party of four. Surprise! Then comes, can't make the payments- needs modifications for smaller payments.... I assist with VRBO assistance. He fills out Maine's Covid forms, again as solo traveler. False. This is a two family, owner occupied parcel. Completely visible. If you agree and comply with TOS, you will not even see me. There is 1 Ring doorbell, has been, for 3 years. I live here year round - the rest is completely delusional. I challenge him to show otherwise. House Rules: No smoking anywhere. Family of smokers, weed and tobacco. 2: Keep outdoor dirt outdoors, i.e. rinse off at hoses and leave street/beach shoes in foyer. NEVER happened with this group. 3: Pop up storms happen daily. Shut the windows when leaving the unit for anything longer than a short walk. Same rules with local rental agency. I look at radar and take pics from outside unit. If a storm is imminent, I will text, then the close windows. Renting does not allow destruction of owners property. I am LOATHE to enter the unit while renters are present. Roberts family complied with NOTHING. Also- room for one vehicle... they had 2/3... There was attitude. There was blatant vandalism, ripping a shelf from bathroom wall...Garbage Disposal needed to be replaced, tripping circuits AND leaking. Owner problem, but also an exigent repair. Long time plumber, 15+ years, looked around and said, I wont come back with these renters.... Ouch. There is more, but I'm not engaging with this entire family. My overall experience here says, theses folks will agree to anything to get in the door, then ignore the contracted house rules. Homeowners should pass.

Everything You Need
If you prefer a rental that feels like home, with ALL the conveniences, this is the rental for you. When we arrived, we were greeted by Anne. She quickly answered any questions we had both before and during our stay. She is a gracious host who is there if you need anything but not hovering. Anne's rental was SPOTLESSLY clean. The house has everything you could possibly need from a truly fully equipped kitchen to an abundance of towels and hangers in the closets. A previous review mentioned that there was too much personal stuff. Let me dissuade you from thinking that it's a problem; the house is neat and tidy and while it has anything you could need, is not cluttered by any means. We felt comfortable and at home. The location is perfect with gorgeous views of the salt ponds/marshes. The town store is two doors down where you can get steamed lobster meals. The house is less than a ten minute walk to the beach. Lovely patio with a grill overlooking the water. Another previous review mentioned the parking area being tight. It's not. We have a mid-size SUV and there was plenty of space to park and load and unload the car. Like, it wasn't even close to being an issue. All in all, Anne's house is one of the best rentals we've had and Anne is a great host.

Thank you so much for the gracious words! I'm blushing! Here's the thing: the Sikorskis are dream guests. Positive, cheerful, kind, quiet, great communication and they left the unit immaculate. I wish they lived closer! All I can say is if they look to book your home, jump at the chance. They are truly lovely people.

Dear Anne, it is with great pleasure that we discovered your charming village. You made us feel welcome to Biddeford Pool that you love. We had a very comfortable stay in your warm and lovely home. We look forward to telling all our friends about your location. I discovered hidden behind tne fields, a wonderful beach to be remembered. I loved the quietness and the beauty of the sea one can share on your sandy beach. Thank you for your gentle presence around us during our stay.

Comfortable and clean home
Property was listed accurately and Anne provided us everything we would ever need in her home EXCEPT HEAT. We froze during the cold days because we were only allowed heat in the evenings because of the timer she imposed. Also, we spent wasteless time trying to figure out how the microwave worked when it, in fact, was broken. Anne had ordered a new one which had arrived but she never informed us that the microwave would be replaced because it was broken. Poor communication. I would recommend that the plants in the sunroom be cut back or removed because they were a bit overwhelming. Many items in the home gave you the feeling that an old person had lived there. No need to have so much clutter when vacationers want simplicity. Parking was very tight in the driveway and a van or SUV would have problems. We were fortunate our car was small.

This was a bad visit all around. Most unfortunate. My previous guests, back to back bookings, were joyful, lovely guests, (please read their review) and they had no interest in the microwave... hence, when I determined that, despite it having power and lights, it was not functioning properly, the best I could do was order an overnight delivery replacement. Sadly, it took 3 days. Micro arrived, in the rain, at 2:50. The new guests arrived at 3:10, leaving me no time, as I had been scrambling with my P/H guy to turn my oil burner BACK ON, in a courteous and gracious attempt to take the chill out of the air, as it was 50 and raining. That visit cost me $175. It was also MAY 28th. Their visit was May 28-31, not March. No one has their central heat on in Maine in late May. No one. Heating season in Maine is October 15 to April 15. When I arranged with "guest" to swap out the microwave the next "morning" ( which was noon) I found the apartment cranked up to 84 degrees. I considered that an absolute exploitation of decency and trust... had I not been a resident owner, there would have been no heat at all. I know of no summer rentals with anything other than, maybe, space heaters. When they finally left, leaving me to strip the beds, which is not compliant with house rules, I saw that they never even bothered to open the drawer or closets to utilized the provided blankets... Even worse, they shoved away the warm bedding and quilts, sleeping in only top sheets. Mr "Guest" was then complaining that the unit was only "66 degrees" which simply was not true, when it was 84 a mere 3 hours earlier. My second floor unit, with no heat zones drawing, was 72. I have lived in this house 15 years. I know the temperature spread very well. I turned the heat back on at 5 pm for their second and 3rd night rather than listen to them whine. (BTW- 66 degrees is a pretty common summer temp out here on our peninsula. A jacket or sweater is often needed.) Coastal Maine is not the tropics. 50's and 60's are very common temps even in the summer. This does not necessitate heat. Guests who choose transitional season dates for lesser$, risk cooler temps. Not on the owner. Strange that these frail seniors citizens, with a full size Buick, should complain about decor (as stated, exactly as represented in photos ) or standard size parking, which has previously accommodated full sized SUV's with ease. This couple should stay in hotels where all of their expectations can be met by staff.

"Back in Time"
As we drove across the mile long road bordered on one side by the "pool" and the open ocean on the other, we could sense that something magical was waiting for us around the bend. Experiencing life (albeit 4 days) in the tiny village of Biddeford Pool is like going back in time. There's the quintessential Maine seacoast architecture, quiet shady streets perfect for strolling, the old general store with all the necessities including lobster and wine, and friendly folks of all ages out for a walk, bike ride, or nap on the beach. The excitement of "the return" to summer homes or "the arrival" for the first time was palpable! Anne is a wonderful host! Very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, considerate, and dedicated to her property. It's true! The rental space is not just a rental, but truly a home. Extremely clean, organized, well equipped, lots of windows, comfortable, cozy living room, sun room with lots of plants, 2 bathrooms (a treat!), deck overlooking the water, and grassy yard with flowers and shade trees and space to store our bikes and kayaks if need be. We will definitely return to this magical place, and stay in "our" home in the village! Thank you, Anne!

Thank you for your kinds words. I do try to do everything I can think of to ensure my guests have their best, most comfortable visit possible. And yes, it all starts with clean! Sadly, a 4 star review tells me there is room for improvement... If you can share some suggestions as to how I can improve on my property so that hopefully I can deliver 5 star stays in the future, it would be a great help. Many thanks, Anne
