"My family stayed here for one night and we had a wonderful experience. The hotel and rooms are freshly refurbished, the air conditioning, wifi, and elevator worked well. There is still a minor aroma of paint smell on the first floor, hence we suggest booking a room on the second floor. Overall, it was a great experience."

9.8 out of 10, Exceptional, (22 reviews)
"My two night stay at Le Mas Fraissinet was one of the best experiences I have ever had. My hosts, Audrey and Michel, were lovely and accommodating, the included breakfast was delicious, all homemade, of note was the chestnut yogurt! My room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The view from my room of the National Forest is literally across the street. The pool and spa was a delight for this part of France. Especially as you reserve your own private time to use. I also loved the restaurant...

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Portes?
The best area to stay in Portes is the village centre, particularly around the Place de l'Eglise.

This charming village core is where you'll find the most character and convenience. It's built around the historic Église Saint-Pierre, with narrow, winding streets that lead to small, local shops and cafes. The area is very walkable, allowing you to easily explore the village's historic architecture and enjoy its relaxed pace.

Couples looking for a romantic escape will find the village centre ideal. The intimate setting, with its traditional stone houses and proximity to delightful local eateries, creates a great backdrop for a quiet getaway. You can spend your days exploring the village on foot or simply relaxing in one of the quaint cafes.

Families, especially those with younger children, might prefer accommodation slightly outside the immediate village centre but still within easy walking distance. These options often offer more space, perhaps a garden or a small pool, providing a nice balance of village access and private amenities for children to play.
When is the best time to go to Portes?
The best time to visit Portes is during the late spring (May to June) or early autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasant and the crowds are smaller.

For those looking for warm weather and sunshine, July and August offer the hottest temperatures, ideal for enjoying the outdoors and the nearby Mediterranean coast. However, this is also peak season, so you can expect more visitors and higher prices for accommodation and activities.

Travellers who prefer a quieter experience and cooler temperatures for hiking and exploring the natural beauty of the Cévennes National Park will find April, May, September, and October to be excellent choices.
Can I cancel my hotel reservation on Expedia?
You can cancel your hotel reservation on Expedia, though it depends on the cancellation policy of your booking. Most bookings are refundable if canceled within 24-48 hours of the scheduled arrival. Be sure to check your booking confirmation for the exact cancellation policy. If free cancellation is available, you can cancel directly through your Expedia account by logging in, going to "My Trips", and selecting your reservation. To find flexible deals, filter your search by "Fully refundable property" for hotels in Portes.
How much is the nightly rate at a Portes hotel?
Prices for hotels in Portes often vary, but you can find a great deal from CA $92 on Expedia. All sorts of factors affect price, such as the time of year or the days of the week you choose for your stay. Find the best deals by being flexible with your dates, and sort search results by "Price: low to high" for the cheapest rate.
