Pipa is a small fishing town with some of the most iconic beaches in Brazil, surrounded by forested hills and sand dunes. Lying on an outcrop that juts into the Atlantic Ocean, the commune of Pipa is 50 miles (80 kilometres) south of Natal. It should take 1 to 2 hours to drive between the two towns. Farther south are the beach havens of Baía Formosa and Barra do Cunhaú.
