The ideal vacation spot for those looking to bask in the heart of the Dordogne. Whether you are looking for a centrally located home to tour the countryside, or a place to unwind and sit by the pool, this stunning barn conversion has something for everyone. Dating to the 17th century, the property highlights modern amenities in a setting which includes exposed beams, pierre apparente and traditional features. The space On the main floor, a grand entrance opens up to the luxury and amenities of a chef’s kitchen: including gas range, 2 ovens, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, spices and any other kitchen tool you might need. A large fireplace, powder room, and stunning decor evokes the feeling of a 17th century château in the French countryside, with a modern flare. The second floor has 2 magnificent, spacious bedrooms, both with ensuite and views overlooking the garden. The third floor features 2 twin beds, along with its own powder room. Every Wednesday Piéguts-Pluviers is host to one of the largest weekly markets in all of Dordogne, in operation since the 17th century, featuring 200+ exhibitors during the busy summer months. Once provisions have been secured, enjoy a meal at one of the numerous dining options available on the property. A barbecue is available to guests. The main floor offers a large oak dining table which seats 8\. Off the kitchen, a large table seats 4 to soak in the morning sun. Have lunch or dinner under a large, beautiful pergola covered in grapevines. Enjoy a glass of wine in the afternoon sun at the sectional near the pool. The property features a magnificent pool measuring 12 ft x 30 ft. Lounge chairs, cushions and palm trees all included. For those looking to escape the heat by the pool, umbrellas and awnings are available as well. Speakers are set up poolside for those choosing to enjoy music. \*Please note that glass is forbidden by the pool. Plastic glassware is provided. Parking: 1 spot available on the property and street parking nearby. The highlight of Piégut-Pluviers is the historical ‘Tour de Piéguts’, the remnant of a castle from the 12th century which was destroyed by Richard the Lionheart. The town also features an Intermarché, 2 bakeries, several restaurants, a bank, wine shop, and numerous other local shops. Super U located 15 min. away in Nontron. 2.5 hour drive to Bordeaux. 2 hour drive to St. Emilion 45 min drive to Angouleme. 1 hour drive to Perigueux. 1.25 hour drive to Cognac. They are both hunters. I know this is not everyone's cup of tea, but a lot of people from that generation in rural France do like hunting, fishing, fetching mushrooms. There are woodlands all around the karting circuit. My dad and his friend have built some platforms in the trees, and from mid-October to mid-November they go there every morning to shoot migrating birds.
