This unique property is waiting for you to "ride" into days past, and have a great time in downtown Boyne City. You will be staying in a real caboose railcar that has been modified to offer all the comforts of home. With 2 sets of twin bunks you will be all set to let your adventure begin and have company with you! The property is just 2 blocks to downtown Boyne, and 3 blocks to the fabulous Avalanche Preserve for hiking, biking, skiing, sledding, ice skating, bird watching, and the best views overlooking Boyne and Lake Charlevoix you will find! You will have an outside firepit and grilling area all to yourself, and if you wish, the city beach is just 3 blocks down the hill for a beautiful summer dip in the crystal clear lake! We had a great time staying in the caboose for two nights! The photos look exactly like it does in person. If you rent, just think of it like sleeping in a camper, and bring supplies accordingly. There is one roll of toilet paper provided, and you'll need to bring trash bags, paper towels, etc. The space heater worked well to keep us warm on those 30 degree nights. We took it into the bathroom when having our "Navy showers". There is a laundromat 6 minutes away by car, and the Marathon station close by has fire wood and s'mores kits. Groceries and all modern conveniences are close as well as the cute downtown area. Don't forget to go see the SkyBridge! ##### Michelle B. Before we moved to Michigan, we stayed in a converted caboose in Virginia with our then 3 year old and he loved it, so we jumped at the chance to do it again with both our boys (ages 6 and 22 mos). The kids thought it was just the coolest thing, and we were very impressed with the renovations. The caboose is cozy, but there’s a good amount of storage space hidden around and the host did a great job stocking the caboose with the necessities plus extras (games, puzzles). A few other reviews brought up the small hot water tank, but that wasn’t a big deal for us. We heated up some water in the microwave to add to the boys’ bath. I did bring black out curtains to hang around the lower bunks and sound machines to help the boys sleep and provide a little privacy at night. In addition to loving the uniqueness of the room, we couldn’t have asked for a better location to explore Boyne City. Quick walk to downtown and over to the marina and farmers market. The caboose is a wonderfully unique venue in which to stay and take in the beautiful Boyne region. It is a pleasant walk to downtown Boyne and Peninsula Beach, taking just a few minutes. Storefronts and restaurants abound. The caboose is nicely restored. The owners dud a great job designing the interior layout, using equal space for sleeping, dining, and restroom spaces.
