"Beautiful hotel with an amazing old world feel. Our room was decorated/furnished in keeping with the castle and was very clean and comfotable. Wandering through the castle and court yard is highly recommended to soak up the whole atmosphere. An added bonus for me was to meet Lady Poppet - Lumley Castle's resident cat ❤️ She and the staff were all very welcoming and helpful. "

"Arrived for an anniversary stay with my partner and child.. upon arrival advised by local members we wouldn't want to take baby into the pool as it was like the north sea, the members have been complaining for weeks it hadnt been heated. The sauna and steam room were broken and the pool freezing. Considering it is a spa retreat destination this was shocking. We were told an engineer had been called but the members and attendees were out spoken saying they pay monthly membership and it has been broken for weeks .. Other couples arroved at the same time for spa breaks with the spa having no functioning sauna steam room or pool "

"We arrived late afternoon and were greeted by a very friendly receptionist, out room was clean, tidy & comfortable, the bathroom was of an adequate size although the shower/bath tap was lacking in pressure. Breakfast was good with choices of cereals, teas/coffees, yoghurt, bread for toast was fresh as were the croissants. The hot breakfast bap with egg, bacon & sausage was very good. During our stay the 5 members of staff (Lisa, Helen, Dianne, Gemma & Dorothy) we came into contact with couldn't have been any more friendly and helpful. You have to pay for car parking (£5.00 per 24 hrs). The only downside, if any, it is on the edge of a small retail park and apart from a Costa & Greggs there is nowhere within walking distance to eat."
