The best feature about the Best Western Ai Cavalieri is its location, near all the exciting rush at the Teatro Politeama and Teatro Massimo, but in a nice leafy street, surrounded by some quaint and upscale wine bars et al. The lobby and lovely Riad-syle lounge display a lot of character, which the room sadly lacks. We found our room to look somewhat antiquated and really small, smaller than all the other acomodations we booked in Sicily. I really disliked the bathroom, with its cheap cladding, but you know, I'm a girl...Mattresses are locally-appropriate, i.e. on the hard side and if it's a weekend in summer, you may not sleep as well as we did, due to the street exposure. But we enjoyed the open window and the tiny balcony with a view. TV is nice and modern and features SKY movies. Palermo shines with many individualistic, high-end B&Bs. But if you prefer the uncomplicated comfort of a hotel that fortunately doesn't look like a chain franchise, then this Best Western Ai Cavalieri will do just fine, if not memorably. Wine Bar with de rigueur hipster-bartender-with-attitude is adjacent and part of the hotel.
