Overpriced room, the concierge actually charged me $40 for a bag of chips, trail mix and a chocolate bar...our balcony door was ajar so the entire night it sounded like we were in a wind tunnel. All for $350?! Insane..

More care when refreshing the shampoo as it was almost empty when checked in
Several people from my company were staying at the Ottawa Marriott for a week of business meetings and workshops. Due to the fire in the parking garage next door, we lost half a business day by waiting 3 hours in the cold outside, didn't have restaurant/bar/coffee shop on premises for the rest of the week and endured obnoxious smell on the property, lost the ability to use conference room at the hotel for the week and had to run back and forth to Hilton to hold our meetings in the room that wasn't setup for videoconferencing due to the last minute request, severely limiting our ability to conduct business. In all this time, not once hotel stuff offered any help in solving our logistic problems. There was no useful communication to the guests, not even an apology for a ruined stay, and on top of it we were charged full rate despite the lack of basic services. While Marriott's couldn't do anything about the fire, such treatment of customers is unacceptable and doesn't befit the brand and the reputation of the hotel.
This place is a public health hazard. There was a fire in the car park and my disabled husband was stuck in the building. They actually lock the windows in the winter so he was stuck breathing the smoke. We would not have been able to escape in an emergency, which is really scary. My baby daughter has had a cough since returning to the room. They made half an effort to help, not by opening the windows, but by putting fans in the hallway to blow the smell around. They knew we were in a disabled room but put the fan so it blocked the exit for someone in a wheelchair. Quite apart from this, the hotel is dingy and needs refurbished and the reception staff are just ignorant. They let a man push in the line and answered all his multiple queries rather than serving me when I’d been waiting with a baby this morning. The bar man also was very pushy about me giving him a tip, telling me he’d had problems with people from the uk before. The cocktail wasn’t even nice. AVOID!
