Nice hotel close to downtown, but a caveat
My wife and I have stayed at this hotel many times over the past 10 years or so. We always enjoy it - it is close to downtown and what we want to see and do when we are in Ottawa. The restaurant is good and the staff always helpful.
The caveat this time is that our stay was disrupted by incredibly noisy guests. We were kept up well past 4AM on the night we stayed there for a weekend getaway. We were told that many guests complained. It would seem that the culprits were airline personnel who stay there while awaiting flights out the next day. Unfortunately for us they were on our floor, and these people made excessive noise well into the night. We called to complain to the front desk, and they sent someone up, but this did not abate the noise. If you do stay here I strongly suggest you ask for a room on a floor not occupied by their corporate clients who seem to disregard the need for sleep of other guests.
We followed up with the hotel management but the response was not really what I would expect.
My overall rating is disappointing because of this experience. Absent a firm commitment from the management to deal with noise issues like this (and passing this along to the westjet people who stayed there) I may not return. And this is too bad, becuase I like the hotel and the location.
