Absolutely wonderful place to stay beautiful grounds, comfortable and cozy cottage and the best host in Tom and Katherine.Old Camp Joy is our go to place when we want to get away for a few days

Beautiful and Relaxing
We love it here at “Old Camp Joy”. The Knox cottage is so nice and very clean. The bed so so comfortable and rested well! The scenery is so calming and relaxing. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the sunrise. The fishing was fun. It was nice to have a marina nearby down the road for bait and a dollar general not to far. We can’t forget to mention the amazing Lemon Pie made by “Mary’s Cakes and flowers, from Mary herself. So good. We love it here! Great friendly hospitality!

Lake Side Retreat
The cottages were cozy retreats even in the rain. The cottage reminds me of an old family cottage. So much fun to stay here. The hosts were generous and attentive. It is a place to return to over and over.

Perfect, Relaxing, Beautiful View
We had a great time here at the KNOX cottage. The view was just so amazing and beautiful all around us. We loved our cottage and the decor applied with the special touches made. Amazingly very clean and comfortable. Tom was very kind and made us feel very welcomed to be there. We ordered the cinnamon rolls upon another reviews suggestion and menu. Mary’s cinnamon rolls were very delicious and very filling. We loved our stay here at this place, and is definitely at the top of our list to come and stay again when that time permits. I regret we didn’t come upon Old Camp Joy with all the beautiful scenery sooner.

Peaceful and Beautiful
A wonderful anniversary weekend! The kitchen had all we needed so we enjoyed cooking all of our meals. The cottage was incredibly CLEAN!! The bed was comfy and the views from the front porch spectacular. We preordered cinnamon rolls and they were AMAZING so don’t miss out on those. Absolutely would return and stay again in the Knox cottage. Perfect and lovely.

Peaceful Oasis Surrounded by Natural Beauty
Meticulously maintained and thoughtfully designed property with perhaps one of the most beautiful views in East Texas. The cottages are not only adorable, but are clean and comfortable as well. For us it was a welcome challenge to be without TV or Wi-Fi for a few days, but this setting is exactly where you want to be for a digital detox. Plus, there are plenty of amenities to keep you entertained. The sounds of birds wake you up and the chorus of frogs and crickets lull you to sleep. We especially enjoyed canoeing in the lake where many wildlife encounters were had. Lake O' The Pines is (in my opinion) the best lake in East Texas as it's shores have been kept mostly natural, preserving gorgeous views of the piney woods. The drive to the property will have you wandering what you signed up for, but the moment you turn in the driveway you'll feel as if you've just entered the gates of paradise. The hosts do a wonderful job providing everything you need to make the most of your stay, and are quite pleasant to visit with as well. The cottage was spotless and the linens were freshly pressed. I feel this place is a fantastic value for money and will definitely be returning with family and friends.

We stayed in the Knox cottage and it was wonderful. Very clean, comfy, and cozy. The grounds are beautifully maintained and it is a very peaceful place to relax and enjoy nature. The owners Tom and Catherine are so extremely kind and helpful with anything you need. We will definitely tell our friends and family about this place and we are already planning our next stay at old camp joy!

Another great stay with beautiful views
This time we rented all three houses on the property. Each is decorated so well, clean and comfortable. The views are outstanding right on Lake of the Pines. A flat bottom boat, kayak and canoe are available at the waters edge. Tom and Katherine are a stones throw away if you need anything. I can’t say enough about how clean and well stocked you will find these properties.

Very peaceful and pretty.
My husband and I went for our anniversary. The cottage was so cute and clean. We enjoyed our weekend stay and will definitely bring kids the next time. You can fish just a few steps away and use their little boats they leave out.

Our Wonderful Weekend!
Old Camp Joy was the most peaceful, clean, wonderful cabin I have ever stayed in. The owners are delightful and oh so helpful. Everything is well thought out and absolutely perfect. If your looking for a peaceful getaway or a week long stay, this is your paradise. We will be back!! Many more times! Tom, Katherine and Mary are such talented owners and have done an amazing job on this piece of heaven. Do yourself a favor, go visit and stay at Old Camp Joy!

Can't get any better.
The wife and I just wanted to celebrate her birthday by taking a few day away from home. We loved Old Camp Joy so much we've considered moving to the area. The host were top notch, the cabins clean and very charming. We've found our new get away.

get away in paradise.
My wife is a teacher and this past year has been very rough for her with Covid and doing home schooling. My job in law enforcement has also been stressful this past year. Staying in this cottage was like a shot in the arm or just what the doctor ordered!!!! Such a peaceful place. We loved it here and it was hard to leave. Tom and his wife were very welcoming and told us if we need anything done hesitate to ask. We will be coming back for another visit

Awesome Return Trip
2nd trip to this beautiful property.....stayed at different cottage this time but just as cute as the first. Gracious hosts.....had a small power outage at no fault of owners and they furnished flashlights so we could still play board games with grandaughter. Thanks Tom, Katherine and Mary for a memorable girl’s weekend.

Home away from home
Tom and his family are great people and really want you to have the best stay possible. The view and atmosphere are great, hard to come by these days, the lake is beautiful and the Cottages are as advertised. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for privacy, R&R and fishing opportunities. I would stay here again.

Nice quiet lakefront getaway
We had a peaceful time at our cabin. The kitchen had everything we needed and it was clean and comfortable. We used the John boat to go out in the lake and caught a ton of catfish of various sizes. It was nice to be disconnected from the world for the weekend.

We were planning a trip to Barnwell Mountain to go Jeeping (15 mins from the property) and decided to make a weekend out of it. The cottage was super cute and very comfortable for us. The owners are on-site, and super hosts! The three cottages on the property are close but still offer privacy from other guests. We will definitely visit again.

If you are looking for a place to disconnect and relax this is the place! Cottage was super clean, check in was simple, kitchen had pots, pans, silverware, cups , ect....and a Keurig. No TV, but there was a small John boat, canoe, and a kayak. Very peaceful and the lake was quiet.

My husband spent our 1 year anniversary here for 4 days and it was perfect. It was very nice and quiet and there cabin was so clean and decorated to a nice country style. We did a lot of fishing and use the canoe boats. It's a nice getaway for peaceful relaxation. We're definitely going back.

Wonderful and relaxing vacation
Everything was perfect! The location is ideal yet you feel like you're really far from the big city! We loved it and our boys loved playing outside! The owners were super friendly and accommodating and even invited us to feed their horse and donkey, which my two little boys loved! We had an amazing time!

Most reviews have something neg. to point out but there was not one thing that was not 5 STAR about Old Camp Joy. Tom and Katherine were as helpful and nice as anyone could be. The Knox Cottage was so very clean and well decorated. The trees and view of the lake were very relaxing. We will be back to Old Camp Joy again for another wonderful experience!! The cottages are very clean, equipped with everything you need and a comfortable bed. The front porch has a terrific view of the lake. The owners are some of nicest people I've ever met! Enjoyed loving on all of the dogs! We will return soon.
