Staff was friendly! The walls in the room I had were completely bare and white with only one wall having any sort of art. The TV was in the room with the couch but there was nothing in the bedroom. The fridge wasn’t working so my food ended up going to waste by morning which was about $20-$30 worth of food. We got one of the recently-remodeled rooms, and it was very nice and cozy. The beds were comfortable, and the room was very clean. The gentleman that checked us in was extremely nice and even offered to help with luggage. If we come back to the area we would absolutely stay here again. All the rooms are slightly different looking and we were given the option to pick our own room since they were not super busy. The gentleman at the counter, Ryder, was absolutely professional and welcoming, very kind and helped us find the best room for our needs. All the rooms are very clean well put together and comfortable. We picked one with a king size bed on the second floor. They have a sweet with two queen size beds in separate rooms on the ground floor that looks absolutely amazing and we will pick next time. The property is quiet and well placed in the small town of occidental. Right across the street is a great place for breakfast and a wonderful oat milk latte. The food options are plentiful, serving some big and the prices absolutely reasonable. For dinner there are couple of choices but I must warn you only open on the weekends. We went into Santa Rosa to do some food as well which was only 25 to 30 minute drive. Occidental sits in a beautiful area of Redwood forests, and if you're looking to go ziplining there is canopy Adventures only 5 minutes from the lodge. We had a great time and will absolutely return! We highly recommend above any hotel. They have some rooms that are dog friendly and some rooms that they intentionally don't allow any pets for people who may have allergies or preferences. Accommodations in the area are super expensive (because of the great location). We searched online and found a room here (2 queen beds), 2 nights $250 all in. Not a destination resort, but definitely budget friendly for travelers, trekkers, dreamers, etc. \*\* Travel tip: If you’re going to a beach, hiking trail, destination park GO EARLY! The park, parking lot and trails fill up mid-morning.
