I must say I’ve saved this property probably about 15 times. It’s kind of close to my house and I’ll meet up and it’s perfect convenient. The staff is always very friendly. It’s like a home away from home if I have any kind of stuff going on the house like Construction or whatever I go and stay there I rest it’s quiet. I love it. The walkway around the property is beautiful. Gives you a great view of the San Francisco skyline. The fact that the location is horrible, rooms are outdated and have an odd layout, outlets don’t work, wifi is slow or the fact that I did not get my roomed cleaned or at least clean towels would not be enough for me to leave a negative review. What really upset me was the horrible service. For the most part service was fine, not outstanding in anyway. On my last night I returned to my hotel a 9 and the restaurant/bar was closed. (The fact they close earlier on weekends baffles me) When I asked the women at the front desk if I can purchase something from their marketplace behind the front desk, I was met with an aggressive insinuation that I was not a guest at the hotel. Her first question was where did I come from which I had no clue how to respond. It was very obvious that she had no desire to help me. Regardless if I was even staying at this hotel, I don’t know why that would matter if I plan on purchasing something. She continued to be rude and of no help and I did not get the item I actually wanted. I’m not sure what it was about me that made her believe I was not a guest and not want to sell to me but regardless it left me feeling pretty awful. It’s also cheaper here for some reason. But it’s Oakland and this hotel is also next to the hooker hotel motel 6 which is a crime magnet for petty theft and car break in’s. Checked in late and Kim was so accommodating and friendly! Was able to have a delicious breakfast with vegetarian options, fresh fruit, and a variety of pastries, each morning. There is also a bar with a good selection of beers and wines. The night I arrived in my first night I had some chicken tenders and tots for dinner which were good. The bartender/server there (Alyssa) was also very friendly and the cook was nice and quick too!
